I did a good thing.

I mentioned here about this puppy that wouldn’t leave my yard.

I called everywhere I could think of, and no shelters are willing to take any Pit Bulls. I really didn’t want to call the pound. Anyway, I found a home for her. I went from no one wanting her to actually finding a few homes for her. Once everyone saw her in person, they couldn’t resist. I even took her to the vet first to get her wound taken care of, and worm her. I spent $71 dollars, but who needs electricity, right?

Her name is Roxy and could you resist this face?

Now my husband wants to start some kind of animal rescue. Mind you, he didn’t have to find her a home or take her to the vet so I’m sure it seemed great to him. He can pipe dream all he wants  . Oh yeah and sorry for the bad picture, but it was taken with my camera phone.

Awwww, she’s cute. I’m glad you’ve found someone for her!

Good for you, WomanofScorn! Roxy’s a real cutie!

I just wanted to add that some shelters *will *take pit bulls to adopt out. I was at one yesterday and they had at least ten of them. They were all about a year old so I’m guessing they were all from the same litter. I hope they all have the good fortune Roxie did and wind up with good homes soon.

Last year around this time my husband called me at work to tell me that a little dog was lost and sitting in our driveway. I had lost my dog of 12 years not long before, and I wasn’t ready to think about having another dog, and I didn’t think I’d be interested in a Pitt Bull, either.

Long story short, we adopted her and saved her from an almost certain life of crime. I love my little Mabel girl! She is a very sweet dog.

I’m glad to hear you helped save one, too. You did do a good thing!

I guess I should have clarified that none of the shelters here would take any. I called to all I could find in my and surrounding areas. The only other option was to find a Pit Bull rescue. All those were in the northern part of the state, the closest being 5 hours away.

Anyway, she’s settled into her new home very well and everyone adores her. I’m just happy it all worked out.
