Went drinking with some friends last night. It was day four of no cigarettes. I was sure I was going to break down and have a smoke after a few drinks. But I didn’t!
I was actually able to quit for two years before but divorce happened and I fell back into the nasty habit. I have since tried to quit several times but failed. I think I may actually have it licked this time. I’ve got that same feeling I had years before when I actually was able to quit.
Sorry for the shameless brag. I just had to vent.
Also, I woke up with no hangover. Coincidence?
Congratulations to you. I personally found it very hard not to smoke while drinking. I had a 10+ habit of smoking but have quitted, more or less; I only smoke when I am out drinking with friends, which only happens once every month.
Thanks for the responses guys.
I’m not sure if it’s true or not. However, looking at it logically, most smokers smoke twice as much as they normally would when they are drinking. So that’s a double dose of poison (than you normally get) going into your system.
So it does seem logical that hangovers would be less severe.
Good job. When I quit I made a point of doing all those things that triggered a reach for the shirt pocket. Every time you succeed in not smoking, it’s another small victory to be celebrated and reinforces the idea that you can indeed quit the evil weed. And yes, hangovers are far less severe without the added toxins in your system.
