I did something Audaxious [bragging thread]

I just completed a bike ride with one of the local chapters of Audax Club Parisien.

200km, plus another 70 for the round trip to and from the base point. That’s the furthest I’ve ever ridden in one day by about 100km.

My main goal was simply to finish (Most Audax rides insist on a minimum 15kph average speed, so the time limit was 13 hours, 30 minutes). My secondary goal was to do it in under 10 hours. That wasn’t based on any realistic first-hand experience with the course, just on the results from previous years. I managed to finish in 10 hours, 37 minutes, which I’m happy about.

My knees are still killing me, my shoulders are aching, and I’m only just starting to get the feeling back in my crotch. If I do this again, I need a new saddle.

Brag away, dude! That’s awesome. I can’t imagine spending 10 hours on a bike.

And while I realize Tokyo doesn’t get nearly as cold as where most Dopers are living, it was still freaking frigid out. Registration opened at 5:30 (the start was at 6:30, so people could finish before it got too dark out), so I had to leave my house at 4. I took measures to keep my fingers and ears from freezing, but I completely forgot about my water bottle; I tried to get a drink when I was stopped at a light and it was frozen solid.

Wow. It’s amaizng to be able to complete that ride in nice weather, but I can’t imagine how hard it must of been in such cold. Great job!
