I have been an insane Bob Mould fan for years and years (sadly, I did not discover the band until well after its dissolution). I remember reading an interview with Mould in a smaller fanzine-kind of magazine in which, when asked about the possible relationship with Grant, he said he had never even heard of such rumors.
Once upon a time, I saw a Minneapolis band called Walt Mink play, and afterward I chatted at the bar with that band’s guitarist, John Kimbrough. He told me that, according to rumor, Mould tried to hang himself as a freshman at MacAlester College. True? Dunno. Kimbrough also told me that, just after the band’s breakup, Greg Norton got a job at a pizza joint, and he and his friends would go to that pizza joint and sit at Norton’s tables so they could say that the bass player from Husker Du served them pizza. Hah hah hah.
So, tell me more about these concert tapes that you have made. Is the sound quality good?
As I am reading this thread I’ve come to the conclusion that not only did I not know that so and so was gay. I don’t realy care. I was given one life, dont have time to live an others.MTS
Apparently way back when when Ms. Reno was running for Florida Atty General, her opponent, a rabid conservative moral mafia type, handed her a piece of paper at a debate and asked her to sign a sworn statment whether or not she was gay. She rightly refused. I’d have to go back to my Jello Biafra spoken word CDs to get the exact name and place, but I think it was the same nutjob who went after 2 Live Crew.
Me, couldn’t care less, I think Janet has been one of the better AG’s recently (think Ed Meese). As long as people are competent, I don’t care how many colors are on their flag.
The reason I started this thread was that I had just read the whole “Unanswered questions about cartoon characters” thread which devolved into a who’s gay in the Scooby Doo world debate. That made me think back to the article in the OP. I already knew about Bob Mould prior to that article, originally found out in the liner notes to the Pansy Division Pile Up CD. And I had just found out about Aaron Copland last week on NPR. So I was just in a curious mood. I definitley didn’t want to out anybody, when and if to come out is a personal choice, everybody else can go flog themself.
It’s always interesting to me that whenever there’s a thread about celebrities being gay, several people make the effort to say they don’t care.
I don’t care about the subjects of maybe 99 percent of the threads I see, yet I don’t feel the need to make replies in any of them to tell people I don’t care about the subject discussed.
I think you may be getting him confused with the guy who plays (played?) the cooking show guy. I think it was a cooking show. Anyway, he and Bulldog are the two gay castmembers I remember reading about (it was actually an article somewhere- "Hey, two castmembers of Frasier are GAY!!!)
Marcy on MWC=Amanda Bearse.
Darn, you beat me to it, oh well!
My mother commented when she came out about how ironic it was that she played someone who was always lusting after all those guys on the show.
Go figure.
On a related note - this comes from the IDMB re: Sean Hayes who plays Jack on Will and Grace and also had a good turn in Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss
“Playing gay on the show has left a lot of questions about his own sexuality, which he chooses to leave ambiguous. He says he plays a role that is believable and he wants his next role to be equally believable.”
His relationship with Olivier is a subject in “Laurence Olivier: A Biography” by Donald Spoto. Spoto also wrote that Kay and his wife Sylvia Kay Fine had an “understanding.”
