I recently learned that Michael Jeter from Evening Shade was gay, and that surprised me. Of course, now that I think back on it, I have no idea how I missed it.
I have heard that Lily Tomlin is a quietly acknowledged lesbian, but never officially came out. That also surprised me. Though, it’s possible that all I’m hearing is erroneous speculation.
A coworker and I were discussing old TV shows made into movies and got around to Wild Wild West. He casually mentioned that Ross Martin, who played Artemus Gordon, was gay. This was the first time I heard that. Has anyone else heard this or was my colleague yanking my chain?

Ross Martin was married twice, the first time for 23 years and the second time for 14 years. Between those marriages he dated a third woman. (See the IMDb for further information.) If he was gay, he sure went above and beyond the call of duty to pretend that he was straight.
Yes, and according to the book I mentioned above, he did not deny it or hide it from her. The relationship with Kaye lasted for most of the 1950s. There is no doubt that this relationship existed because a letter from Olivier to Leigh about it (written after it was over) has survived.

Oh. I just think that some of the ways he treated Leigh were horrible-like dumping her ON HER BIRTHDAY. OUCH!
