Nah, I’m objecting to the existance of the thread, not the length of it or it’s position on the page. So I’m comfortable with posting my objections to it in the thread. As I stated before, it’s better than starting a third thread on the topic.

I don’t want to single you out by any means, RexDart, but maybe we all ought to stop reporting what’s going on elsewhere? I suspect it tends to inflame the situation.
You seem to have some impression that the reason I started this thread is to promote Lucki’s re-instatement because we are/were best buds of some sort and that some personal or emotional attachment I have to my pal Lucki’s status as a doper is driving this.
I not going to go rooting around for it at this point but I have been among his harshest critics for his adventures with, and facile rationalizations about, substance abuse and his perception of the states role in promoting same, and while I admire his courage and his pluck (aka Johnny LA’s brass balls) for going into the lion’s den I would not want him dating any of my kids unless his views on SA change markedly which is unlikely in the near term. Were not “pals” by any stretch of the imagination.
This thread was prompted by my impression that he has acted hastily and without sufficient caution, but bravely and nobly and that he should be given a second chance. He should have kept the SD’s name out of it, but he did have the cojones to beard the lion in his den which is more than I can say for myself and many other dopers at this point as we pontificate in our little pond here. For better or worse Lucki is the kind of person would probably be among the first to sign up to fight the Axis in WWII on principle while everyone else is worrying about their own little circumstances. Possibly not the most prudent couse of action but one I can symmpathize with and admire.
“Bearding the lion” interesting that you should use that metaphor. I can’t think of an act more representative of ignorance. Courage is standing your ground, not picking fights.

As I’m sure some dopers versed in the history of WWII and the rise of national socialism could tell you, it’s a slipperly slope from “standing your ground” to “taking a stand”. There are certain fights that need to be picked in this world, and while Lucki’s linking the SDMB to his toe to toe adventure with the white nationalists may be inappropriate his choice of targets is not.
I don’t see the link between the stormfront boards and the Nazis. If the stormfront board members form a political party and gain enough support to enact laws enforcing their political views, then we have something to worry about. If they go militant and start marching through the countryside armed with weapons and forcibly segregating the races, then turn the national guard on em.
If I hear them roaring outside of their den, I’ll giggle and tell other people who may have heard them that they’re toothless. When they grow teeth, I’ll worry somewhat, if they start to use those teeth I’ll support introducing them to the wrong end of an M-16.
In the meantime let the lion roar all he wants, he’s staying in his den. Let me know when they invade Poland, I’ll write my congressman to tell him I, as a voter, support blowing them into the stone age.

Fenris, as usual, is spot on, I think. If you’re asked specifically by the Powers that Be not to do something and you go ahead and do it anyway, why wouldn’t you be kicked out, even temporarily? This seems like a no-brainer to me.
There was no reason for him to bring the SD into the issue, was there? Why did he feel the need to title his thread as he did? Did he think that saying he was not a representative of the SD would be helpful? If he really wanted to debate them on their own turf, why didn’t he leave the SD out of it, and simply debate them on their own turf?
