I do not like Yoni

Yoni loves Chachi

I think in a thread about the yoni, it would be more appropriate to use the term “lingam” in preference to “dork.”

Do the people saying that yoni is a “stupid word” realize that it’s simply a foreign word? It’s Sanskrit. The counterpart term for the male dingus is lingam.

Dammit, Scumpup!

I’ve never even heard the word before, so I checked out the thread to see if reality would match my guess…

No, “Yoni” is not a cute anime meerkat that will be rag-tag-teaming with Mario in the latest Nintendo game…

I do. What bugs me is its use as a euphemism by people who are uncomfortable with the word in English and the faux-spirituality as discussed by Binarydrone.

Thank you, I was coming in here to say that.

I kind of like it, if it wasn’t for the fact that no one would know what I was talking about.

Yup

I’m not overfond of Yanni, either…

Yup.

This is America, and we speak American here, by God! If you want to call my cock a “lingam” you just get your ass right back to Sanskria if you like it so much!

and later…

Huh? Sanskrit is not “into the Yoni principal”; what does that even mean? It’s just the term for vagina in Sanskrit. They had to call it something.

Unless this is a Great Big Whoosh?

BinaryDrone’s talking about the tendency of pseudo-enlighted posers to adopt an exotic, foreign sounding name for something to accompany their high-minded “look-at-us, we’re-SO-not-mainstream” ideals. Paragraph #3, post #1.

I have a pet peeve about movie buffs that call themselves “cineastes”, too. It’s pretentious. However, a person actually speaking French using the term - wouldn’t bat an eye.

Is it too early for Rice-A-Yoni jokes?

The San Francisco Treat!

OK, keep in mind that I am a Western type guy. That said, the point that I was making was that I am aware of cultures on this planet that revere the feminine in ways that the Western culture in which I was raised does not. One of the terms that I have heard used in this context is the Yoni principal (though to be fair, it was by the same cultural pillages that I was bitching about in the OP). So, while I was not aware that the term Yoni was specifically Sanskrit, I did know that it meant Hoo-ha (or Coochie, if you prefer) in some language other than English.

So what Binary Drone dislikes is not the actual word, but the culture that’s grown up around it. It’s not the poor little word’s fault.

And that pretty much captures what I was getting at.

Well, then I am with you 110%. I hate people like that, take a word and use it and make themselves think they’re all special. And then they get snooty if you don’t know what they’re talking about.

There’s a few on this board, actually!

The subject is unlikely to arise.

I find yoni only slightly less unappealing than “gash”, though for different reasons.

Here’s a big vote for “velvet love taco”.

Lingam? You hardly know 'im!

That’s sacred feminine velvet love taco, damnit. I know you’re an atheist, but show some fucking respect for religion, already! :stuck_out_tongue:
