I do not share your racism.

Just to play devil’s advocate: Isn’t it damn near a mathematical impossibility that all races are exactly equal? I mean, whatever markers you chose to measure inferiority, I have a hard time believing all races would score the same on all those markers.

Did you tell her this?

THIS!

I don’t need to post extensively after something so clear. Thank you.

Yep.

What exactly is “just stupid”?

You.

I actually think this can be fuzzy. I lived in West Philly when Penn was quickly buying up properties, and the increase in property values, combined with a tax reassessment, was driving out black residents. There were quite a few signs up protesting and indicating that whites should leave, in various unsavory terms, and crime jumped as Penn students were being targeted in increasing numbers.
Would it be racist to warn a white person of the situation? Because in that case, “they (black people) are robbing us (white people- if both participants were white)” would be the truth of the matter.

‘Snicker licker’?! Bwa-ha-ha-h… Uh… Um… Wait, was that supposed to be considered derogatory?

You forget that all Chinese dudes know kung-fu.

Probably your failure to concede that “Group X is more intelligent than Group Y” is, in fact, saying that Group X is better than Group Y. And that it’s always going to be that way until society degenerates into pure idiocracy, when intelligence and the ability to learn are no longer seen as desirable qualities. And that your obstinate focus on “moral inferiority” (whatever the fuck that is) is meaningless and stupid, because you’re just stupid.

I, for one, would like to come out in strong support of DC’s inner city African Americans in their noble quest to make the lives of ethnically Caucasian federal government employees, “non-profit” personnel and all other similar elements in the area as miserable as possible. But in the spirit of racial equality I think they should move beyond targeting just the white ones. If they undertake a decisive and affirmative action to redress the under-victimization of blacks, Asians and Hispanics, that would truly be a post-racial utopia.

Of course not, because she’s more interested in smugging on the internet.

Heh, more or less. It’s just retarded to pretend you’re not racist if you believe race X is superior/inferior, so long as there is no moral value to the inferiority/superiority, and all should be treated nicely.

Apparently, Randy, the word “racist” gives you heartburn. Perhaps you envision bad men in white sheets, or people who find it acceptable to be cruel to inferior races, so you eschew the term, but really, the definition of racism you provided earlier is just fine: belief that one race is inherently inferior to another. This bit where you go “I believe they’re inferior, which doesn’t mean they’re bad people, and therefore I am not racist” is just stupid.

I know I’m going to regret participating in this thread, but here goes:

If the neighborhood watch lady had said:
“Be careful with your gadgets, there’s a lot of crime in this area. They * are targeting white people, as white people generally have good stuff to steal, as they are generally of the gentrifying yuppie class, whereas black people, it’s more of a mixed bag, expensive stuff to steal-wise.”

would this be racist? Also, are we sure this was not her intention when she spoke?

  • we’ll use our powers of omniscience to know that she means ‘they’ for ‘them thar criminals’ not ‘them thar black criminals’.

One variable is the tone of voice in which you say “they”. If you basically just say “they’re targetting white people”, then it still isn’t necessarily non-racist, depending on context, but if you say “they [half a beat] … are targetting white people”, then you’re obviously trying to hint at something.

Wow. This thread is fascinating.

It’s mostly fascinating to me because while Rand Rover is castigating even sven for what’s been characterized as her self-righteous liberalism (“look at how tolerant I am!”), he’s doing the same exact thing under cover of rationalism (“look at how smart and rational I’m being!”).

On the face of it, “this group has lower test scores and performs less well on standardized tests that that group” can be a simple, factual statement without value judgement. But we don’t live in sterile TextbookLand, and you cannot simply ignore race relations over the last 200+ years. Claiming that “studies have shown that blacks are less intelligent on average than whites” is not a racist statement with all wide-eyed innocence is just being willfully obtuse.

Or blindly racist.

Hey, you heard the man! Belief in racial inferiority makes him racist only if he finds the inferiority to affect the value of the person as a human being. Otherwise, he’s just some dude stating the facts. Fucking liberals.

Admit it, it was the Snickers Lickers talk that grabbed your attention.

Well, sure. Duh.
