I don't know what you're TRYING to do, but you're GOING to get yourself fired.

I say fuck em both. Pieces of shit honestly. In this economy pretty much anyone is replaceable quickly

It’s really cool of you to wait until you calm down to make a decision, but that guy deserved to be fired on the spot.

Skald as always your description of events is detailed and well written. I have no idea about idjit #1 but I applaud your restraint with #2. I have fired many, many employees over the years and I have never done it angry, just wait until tomorrow and see how contrite he is. Hopefully he realizes the error of his ways.

Good Luck

Capt

PS I even waited a day to fire the guy who mooned me from the stage.

I’m reminded of Cerie on 30 Rock.

As for the swearing guy, I’m guessing his mind was just focused on the thought that with his boss on vacation and his acting boss off for the day, he was free. He just shut off his brain and let loose with all the things he couldn’t normally get away with because he figured there was no one around to stop him.

As he found out, it’s a lot harder to get away from the consequences of your actions than that. Maybe some other supervisor will catch you (as happened here) or maybe a co-worker or customer will complain. But for some people all they can think of is “I won’t get in trouble right this moment! So I’m going to do what I want with no thoughts about the future!” It’s the mentality of a five-year-old playing in the mud while wearing his good clothes.

Now see, that will only cause problems and lawsuits.

Skald kudos on holding your temper with idjit #2. I don’t know I would have been as calm but have decided that (if a like situation occurs for me) I will emulate you.

I can’t wait to see what he says tomorrow.

Here’s our dress code at work (for caregivers): khakis and the uniform shirt and name badge. No jeans, no scrubs, no substitutes: Khakis. Uniform shirt. Name badge. I mean, it’s not wishy-washy; it’s not even as broad as “dress casual.”
Every single day someone walks in wearing scrubs or jeans.

Good moves with both of them.

I’d have answered “I don’t care whose boss you are” with; “Ok, here’s why you should care. When your boss wants to write you up or fire you, he comes to me to sign off on it. When I want to write you up or fire you, it happens.”

Classy

I try.

At my first job in high school there was a girl who did not understand proper dress. She was around my age with gigantic boobs who wore clothes way too small. Because of her inappropriate dress a dress code was then instituted (which meant I had to buy nice-ish clothing).

She was let go not too long after.

It can be really really REALLY hard for large chested women to find clothes that fit and are flattering. I wasn’t there, but I wonder if that wasn’t the issue here.

If that woman is called an Account Executive, then I (a white female grandmother of a wanna-be reggae singer) should be called Bob Bleeping Marley.

I say you should quickly calm down and fire them both, loudly.

I do, actually, and since I’m easily within bee range to you, I must humbly beseech you not to destroy him. I’m so sorry Skald!

SKALD to me the first gal is just looking for an excuse to be fired, or has gotten away with pushing limits because of her looks all her life and doesn’t understand why she no longer can. I’m guessing the first.
However, the behavior of the second problem employee sounds to me like someone suffering from behavior typical of mental health issues; perhaps undiagnosed or off of his meds…
Just my two cents worth

If you fire both of them, do it on different days. Why? Because you don’t want them to meet in Human Resources, fall in love, and then have a kid who will one day be dressed very inappropriately and screaming foul language.

Nor, in the short term, do you want someone to see them together and create a reality show based on them.

Actually I kind of miss FedEx, in a way. I made several of my best friends there, my work wife in particular. Nonetheless, there was a lot of rancor there at the end, and I’ll never go back.

Well, I guess I missed that you’d changed jobs. Best of luck in your position now, seriously.

Not just because you have bees.

Let’s try to avoid these types of comments in the future.

Wait - you mean people can actually be fired for repeatedly breaking rules and being insubordinate? Would you have time to do a short inspirational video for my boss?
