Youtube was fantastic in it’s early days. Then it sold and went commercial.
Man, I despise those stinking commercials. The final straw is the constant censorship. I ran across some great fan videos where the music had been removed. The RIAA’s dirty work no doubt.
Is there something out there like youtube was originally? A free form place to post fan videos commercial free?
Metacafe has some great videos. No censorship. You can see breasts!!! If you choose to. I’m not sure if they welcome fan vids.
That Vevo shit seems like it just exists to irritate me. It’s not like I’m actually going to watch their 30 second add when I can just hit the ‘back’ button and click on the next video down.
There are just too many drawbacks to watching streaming videos on a computer. The shitty quality, the dropped frames, the constant stop and start. Also, nobody seems to realize that the bright white background around the video frame makes viewing the image problematic. Computers and the internet, at least at the end of 2010, are just not advanced enough to offer a pleasant viewing experience. Maybe advancements in the future will make the internet a decent method to view video, but they aren’t there yet.
What more annoys me is when I try to share a video with friends in another jurisdiction and they get a notice telling them it isn’t licenced there. It’s really frustrating.
