Diogenes, I truly feel sorry for you. You seem so full of hate for the country you live in.
For what it’s worth, I agree with you in the principle that the government makes it possible for me to live in relative peace and security. The government (from local on up) provides me with, yes, roads, sewer, fire protection, police protection, and more. The taxes I pay I consider to be the wages I pay them for these services. (I have some beefs about the quality and efficiency of the services, but that’s another tale). And yes, I also agree with the governments responsibility to take care of those least capable of helping themselves. I also have no problem with the principle that my/our taxes help pay for many different social programs. Again, I DO have problems with the quality and efficiency of many of those programs, but again, that’s another tale.

Does Bill Gates deserve to be a multi-billionaire? Dunno. Should he be required BY LAW to distribute (read: give away) his assets to everyone who has less than he does? Hell, no.

The PRINCIPLE of requiring distribution of a person’s assets to those who have less is absolute fucking nonsense. Call it greed as you do, or call it looking after myself, as I do, but I have every intention of accumulating as much as I can, within legal boundaries and according to the dictates of my own conscience. With those assets, I can provide for my family’s needs, such as clothing, education, food, shelter, etc. And also help assist those that I deem, by my own conscience, needing help.
But why should I make the slightest effort to do so (ie, WORK) when the law would REQUIRE that other people give me THEIR assets? It makes no fucking sense!!!

Amoral? Without morals? Hell, any system has no morals, by definition…it’s a non-living process and as such cannot have any morals. As for the people living under this amoral, selfish system? They are, by any standard you can think of, the most giving and charitable people on the face of the Earth. One reason, I would venture to say, is BECAUSE they have been able to accumulate their own personal wealth. You can’t give away what you don’t have.
And sociopathic? Where the hell do you get the idea that this system is sociopathic? This greedy, amoral system that you hate so much has only produced the highest standard of living in the history of the entire fucking world. Perfect by no means, but good enough that millions of people are clamoring to get into this country and I sincerely hope it never goes away.
