I don't think I've ever seen a Pit thread locked

He thinks I’m trying to protect a Trump supporter?

I’m genuinely insulted.

In the Mod loop we are all sick of your pro-Trump spam.

Make Great Debates great again!

It was a false-flag operation.

Upon reflection I could have/should have posted that article about “What Trump Voters Really Want in Health Care” in my thread about Trump Voters Will Get a Surprise. I wasn’t thinking. My bad.

OTOH, our mod could have merged the two similar threads instead of locking the one.

No biggie.

I’m not the one who locked the thread with no note, and a scan up and down showed one poster being howled down - I believe threads have been locked simply to stop such pointless cycles.

No deeper reading needed.

Why do you keep saying that? Miller did not explicitly call his post “moderating”, but since he said he’s “closing the thread”, I think it’s pretty damn obvious that it was, in fact, a moderator note.

Was it ever great? That’s debatable.

There was no note at the time I read the last of the thread, and I’ve never checked back to see if one was added.

So there’s a 14-minute gap between the last post and Miller’s note, which is dated three minutes before my OP here… and I went from a quick review of the un-noted thread to here without a stop. I’m not sure what was delayed where or when - maybe I paused or was distracted before hitting “Post” - but I certainly wouldn’t have posted this if I’d seen that note.

Perhaps you should consider waiting a little longer before making a complaint, especially since the reason for the closure would have been evident from checking the first page of the forum and the conclusion you jumped to was entirely unwarranted. Just sayin.

The 4th post in this thread has miller’s note in it. I’m not sure why you’d keep saying closed without note or go back and check.

Miller closed the thread at 5:45 PM, and posted his note at 5:46, one minute later. The OP posted his complaint at 5:49, three minutes after Miller posted his note. He apparently didn’t check back on the thread for an explanation before complaining.

There’s no way for a user to tell when a thread was locked. I saw the locked icon, looked the thread over, and posted my question. If Miller’s post and mine crossed in the stream, so be it. I thought it was sufficiently unusual to find a thread locked with no explanation to ask.

If you had, literally, taken a minute to think, “Is this worth starting an ATMB thread about?” you’d have seen the note.

CSI, Panama!

“So be it?” :dubious: Your post and Miller’s didn’t “cross in the stream;” he made his post in a timely fashion and you couldn’t be bothered to check. And you didn’t merely ask an innocent question out of curiosity. You made an accusation against Miller’s integrity as a mod, claiming he was “protecting contrarian posters” on the basis of exactly zero evidence, and against all previous experience.

ProTip: It’s not unwise to wait a full 60 seconds or so before posting an accusatory thread.

It’s going to be a busy 2 years for these poor mods. Every time Trump shows his ass in public, there will be multiple threads in multiple forums.

Of course, one minute in Pit time equals a fortnight in MPSIM time.

It’s irrelevant how long since the last post the thread was locked, or exactly what time the thread was locked, since your issue is about the thread begins with it being locked.

  1. Thread gets locked
  2. You are confused by it
  3. One minute later a clarifying post is made

By then you’ve decided something Is Not Right and decide to craft an ATMB thread accusing Miller of protecting someone by closing this thread.

Even if you had gone back to copy a link to it, you’d have seen the mod note.

I will almost always lock a thread first and then post the Mod Note, so no additional posts are made once I’ve decided the thread needs closing.
