I don't think I've ever seen a Pit thread locked

I just checked: vB forces you to do it that way. You click on the “Thread Close” button, it closes the thread, then it allows you to add a note.

If you add the note first, someone can post after you, which leads to not uncareless readers to skip the second to last post (the closing announcement) and just reading the last, squeaking in under the wire, irrelevant to the closing note post.

It is not uncommon for messageboard software to work that way.

Well, that’s not true. I can make a post and hit the checkbox for ‘close this thread after you submit this message’ and it happens simultaneously.

Huh. I didn’t see that option on the Giraffeboards. Let me try it.

Huh–I’ll be damned. There it is: I rarely go into the “go advanced” section and just use quick reply, but it’s right there if you chose “Go Advanced”. How 'bout that?

It’s all how we do it. I rarely use the quick reply box and instead like having the options in front of me. Different people, different ways.

Not to mention that you kept complaining about “no mod note” even after Bo posted the note in post #4 of your thread, here. Not sure what else folks can do to help you see this sort of thing.
