I don't think that sign means what it says

Seen yesterday on a marquee sign in front of a tavern:

I think they were alluding to Valentin’s Day. I hope…

celebrate VD on the pool table.

Wow. I love Vinny D’Amico.

Again, proof that commas are important.

“Easy” and “VD” really do go well together. (And, well, “come,” too, I suppose.)

It’s not Veteran’s Day already, is it?

Clap, clap.

How many people under 40 even know what VD used to stand for? I mean, I am and I do, but I think decades of STD (and now for some reason STI) have all but eradicated VD in the collective consciousness of society.

Yes, VD has been all but wiped out.

Apparently, people got the message that they should give clap a hand.

Abbreviations make me crabby.

Family Guy has made some “VD” references. It’s still pretty common knowledge among the under-30 set, in my experience at least.

It’s the second time in a week that I’ve posted THIS video. They used to play those ads all the time back in the 70’s when everyone was thumping like bunnies and the worst that could happen is you’d need to get a shot in the butt!

(Well, the swab thing down the pipe wasn’t any fun, but you know what I meant)

My problem with this is that I still remember when STD stood for Subscriber Trunk Dialing (i.e., direct dialed long distance telephone calls).

Funny that all but one of the people shown were white. I guess if you’re Latino or Asian, you’re perfectly safe, and if you’re black, the odds are in your favor.

It was a bit startling to see young teenage girls - like fifteen, sixteen years old - shown. These days, we can’t stand admitting that teenagers might - gasp - have and enjoy sex, let alone portray that fact in a non-judgmental manner.
