Glad that’s sorted, then. It’s always nice when you make an argument, and the other person goes out of their way to say they can’t counter it.
I’m glad that we can go back to being on the same side–that racism, even if it doesn’t rise to the level of hate speech, is not acceptable on this board.
Sigh. Yes, I’m aware he knows. That’s the point of the post. I specifically referenced something he would surely know, which contradicted the post I was replying to. That’s how that particular figure of speech works.
Again, that’s the point. I had already argued that his argument was bad–based on a poor premise. The only relevant argument is the one he didn’t make–the one made much earlier in the thread. That’s why I said “the only argument that is relevant” rather than “the only argument you made that is relevant.”
Look–there’s a reason I replied to Left Hand of Dorkness and not you. He has offered substantive argument. You’ve only offered dismissive misinterpretations of other people’s posts, ignoring their substance. As such, I had no reason to believe I could convince you.
I only lament that LHoD threw in the towel so quickly. I actually expected him to show me how I was wrong–either in how I interpreted him, or in my argument.
Count me in with those who read the usage as sarcastic and non-offensive.
