I doom the bunnies!

I am out weeding a patch of “landscaping” outside my office. There’s a lot of leaves and debris like straw. I clear out a big clump and I find a nest of bunnies. Small bunnies. Bunnies the size of hamsters.

They scatter, very clumsily. I stop weeding that patch and go to a different patch, where again I find a bunny! Is it the same bunny? I don’t know! This one is so immobile I can’t tell if it was alive. I prod the bunny. The bunny doesn’t move.

I stand very still and eventually the nose wiggles. A tiny bit.

The bunny lives!

But the nest is destroyed. Have I doomed them all to being hawk-kibble?

Is this part of your job description? You work in an office but weed the landscaping. Is it some kind of commune, are they hiring/taking new members? I’ve spent the whole day in a mouse grey cube with walls so high I can’t see a window even if I stand up.

Given the time of year and the slowness of movement half of them would be hawk-kibble, snake-snacks or coyote-crunchies as it is.

No, not part of my job description, but spring is slooooow, so I took the opportunity to be outside. Boy that sun felt good.

Poor bunnies. They’re soon to be kibble for some other bigger animal. :frowning:

Even if they do get munched it wasn’t the OP’s fault. He left what vegetation he could.

It’s not really your fault if they do end up being hawk/cat kibble. Consider it ‘survival of the fittest.’

Hey, you wanna come to my house and displace some bunnies in my yard? They are the bane of my existence this time of year when all the young plants and shrubs are sooooo tasty. Grrrrrrrrrr.
