I’m glad I could help break up the lustfest, and I think tanookie definitely deserves the most sympathy. I am right now attempting almond cake without a recipe. If it turns out, can I interest anyone in a piece? Particularly tanookie, because she deserves it. If it doesn’t turn out we can cut it up and use it as doorstops.
tanookie wins. Sympathy must of course be heaped by barrels onto her head.
But could I get maybe a sliver of sympathy. You remember I told y’all that I was concerned that Sassy might have blown out her other knee. Well she has been to the vet, gone thru anti-inflamitory pills which didn’t help. So yesterday we went to her surgeon doc. x-rays were taken. She goes in for surgery on Thursday for a TPLO. This means at least a month of keeping her calm and helping her get around so that she doesn’t pull out the screws from the plate (there was this huge saint bernard in the Dr’s office last time that was having his surgery done again on both knee for like the 3rd time) plus her knee that has already has TPLO surgery last January is not as strong as it was originally so I am concerned about that. Fortunately between me, my parents and my brother, Sassy is able to have almost round the clock nursing for her healing process. So alms for the poor, alms for the poor who is paying for TPLO surgery (again!)
I have snake syndrome and am leaving parts of myself everywhere. My sunburn is pealing and is itching like crazy so if you find skin hanging on the edges of this thread, sorry.
ShibbOleth, I love you. Now if the shoat had a goat . . . Rue, we watched all the same cartoons. And Cholmondeley wasn’t dim, he was just overshadowed by the fast-talking penguin.
Okay. He was dim. But a walrus in a bowler, I mean, come on–how cute is that?
Kallessa (exit, stage right)
One velvet morning when I’m straight
I’m gonna open up your gate
And then I’ll tell you 'bout Phaedra
And how she gave me life
And how she made it end
One velvet morning when I’m straight…
We’ve had autumn for the past while here, and last night it manifested itself in a very big rainstorm and 60 mph wind gusts. We’re now down to 30mph wind gusts. I don’t want to go outside. So I deserve sympathy for that, but not a lot of sympathy.
The cake turned out beautifully. It’s rich and very almondy because I put marzipan in the batter. I think I’ll have some for breakfast. With tea.
I suppose I should mention the fees in Florida are a bit high - they’ll come to around $135K - the price we pay for having no state income tax…
Are you really headed down this way or are you jerking my chain and toying with me??
tanookie, no state income taxes, but high property taxes and sales taxes and gasoline taxes and who knows what-all they stick us with. And our county just added 4% to our utility bills. Since the voting populace in their wisdom decided that the state constitution needed a class-size amendment, without making provisions to fund it, the school districts are scrambling to find money for the extra classrooms and teachers.
No, that’s not going to affect the quality of education, is it?
I’m not going to turn this into a rant. I just want to sell my house and leave this state in my rear-view mirror…
But it’s still nice and cool outside. And sunny. So it’s not a terrible day.
Yeah, it looks good from here, but then you get down there and realize it’s Florida, so it’s hot and it’s humid and everything mildews and they have bugs the size of VW buses fer cryin’ out loud. It’s not right to have bugs that large.
Not jerking even a little bit. I’ll be flying in (and probably out) to/of Jacksonville on the 30th to take care of a little business. Then again, I might stay until Friday. The plans are up in the air right now, but I’ll let you know when they firm up.
