I feel bad for our home health provider.

A close relative had surgery in early March. Their stay in hospital was extended because of an infection.

He came home after the doctor and the hospital care coordinator setup home heath. He had a special picc line put in and was sent home with a IV pump and antibiotics.

The Visiting Nurse Association was a true god send. Coming by every morning to change the antibiotic, draw blood, and change the picc line dressing. My nephew is doing great today thanks to those wonderful nurses.

Shame they haven’t got paid. We got a letter from Medicare saying the claim is in dispute. Medicare says we don’t have to and shouldn’t pay either.

This chicken shit stuff bugs me. An enormous amount of money was saved by using home health. The alternative was two more weeks in hospital or a nursing home.

I hate seeing the nurses shafted. Hopefully they’ll get the issue straightened out with medicare. They deserve anything they charge. It’s a wonderful service.

Home health is definitely the way to go when you need care after a hospital visit.

Hmmm. I’d bet the nurses themselves got paid and the agency which sent them is the one still trying to recoup. Not that Medicare should be waffling about any of this, but at least the individuals would have been paid.

Much of what I’ve been told about the future of healthcare delivery (I work in a hospital) indicates that this model will be far more common than an extra few days in the hospital.

The nurses were so kind and helpful that it’s hard not to transfer my feelings to the company. My nephew responded well to their tender care.

There were concerns the artificial knee might have to come back out. I’m thankful he’s past the infection and doing well.

Medicare will probably end up paying once they verify the service was provided. There is so much fraud now they have to be sure he actually got the care. Like Lorene said the nurses were paid it’s the company they work for that is waiting. I’m glad he is doing well. It is so much better if they can go home.
