Not looking for a debate, but would like whatever you could contribute:
Bush the younger and Co.-
I feel like the election was handled, and everything since has been too-
From Cheney’s outfits pushing to lift the oil machinery supply embargo to Iraq, and it being disclosed that he directly or indirectly did far more business with Iran than he had said, to the way Bush is acting like he is King Shit of the country and the world- like he is sole ruler of all.
And the policies- man, could a theoretical fossil fuel cabal have gotten any more obvious? I mean, at first he wasn’t going to do anything to help sort out californias troubles- seems like a hell of a sneaky way to swing public opinion his way regarding opening up all kinds of drilling.
I dont’ even know how to articulate all that I am feeling- I just know that with just about every news piece I am reading having to do with this administration, I get to feeling more and more like a chump.
He is crafty and one of those people who can ‘work’ others- I don’t mecessarily mean that in a good way, although…
How ( t )he( y ) handled the plane deal with China- I really thought he did well- playing all soft till we got our people back, and then acting some harder, and letting some contempt slip out generally- I was kind of floored, and admired it.
I think he has excellent self-preservation instincts, and if he could just make his eyes focus a little past, instead of for his and hsi cronies, both in the limelight and out, short-term future and gain, if he could open up and be more inclusive of the country and world, I think he has good potential to be a truly great president.
I applaud the pushing for a space-based weapons system- if it works- but also, such a thing will probably have to go through many unsuccessfull incarnations and gyrations before is becomes successfull, so I still am for at least working on it in a meaningful way.
I am for new sources of power too- including nuclear generating plants- I am of the opinion that they are safe enough. And even some drilling- we’re going to run out of fossil fuels sooner or later, I’d just as soon it was sooner- put it behind us, get to working on the damage that procurement and use has caused, develop the nextgen stuff, and get on with it- we will only be half-assed in such efforts till then- people are subject to the laws of physics, in particular, the law of inertia, and that, combined with the huge resources behind getting every last drop of fossil fuel up and out will see to that, that we won’t completely effect change for the better until the old stuff is absolutely no longer viable, or profitable, or that it’s all gone.
I dont’ like the feeling I am getting though, that the office is being used to benefit few- I know that happens with all administrations, but man, I feel they are being none too subtle, pretty brazen, and perpetuating this shitty usage of the office to a scale unheard of before.
What am I missing?
Anybody else feel like this? If so, I’d like to hear why. If not, I’d like to hear why.
Thanks
bobo
