I finally have a new computer!

Yes, the day has finally come!

Those of you who have been here for some time will remember my wishing that I had a new computer, definitely more than once. Yes, I’ve done that in response to questions. (also as part of a fantasy Xmas gift list) Hell, I’ve even bitched about it.

But I’m very happy to report that I now have a new computer, thanks to my friend Vernon!

(Win XP, Nero CD-burning program, Mozilla Firefox, AVG 6.0, a 56K modem, a DVD drive, etc. ----> wooyeah!)

Alright!

Me next!

Thanks Vernon!

Larry, you can do this… you just have to be very patient! (I’d been waiting since May 2003 for this to happen)

By the way, we totally have to get together now I’m back from my trip… let me know next time you’re around my place, okay?

Congratulations. I have a problem with computers. I have to build a new one every year. As soon as I finish one, I’m already looking at what to get for the next one.

I´ve got my new computer today too. Quite good stuff, PIV 3.0 MHZ, a very good Intel MotherBoard, good HD, dual channel RAM, a very, very nice 19" monitor and I´ll soon add a GeForce FX5900 graphics card. This thing rocks… or will rock as soon as I install Windows XP; so far no luck, I´ll keep trying. =/

HOLY COW!

It starts up and loads Windows in 6 seconds flat!!!

Does the happy geek dance

Thanks, Burrido! I was wondering when this would ever get done, but I understood Vernon was busy with wedding planning and such.

Ale, that’s so cool! My friend Corey was right… the restart time is like under a minute with my computer now. (before, it would take bloody AGES… )

Only one a year…?

I generally build a new computer or install a new MB/CPU in an existing computer about every six to nine months. We have a network of five desktops and a laptop for me, DH, and two kids. I have constant wishlists of components to get, and when I get enough parts for another computer, I spend a weekend putting it together.

Part of me wants to buy a new, in-the-box computer just once in my life though, so that I know what it feels like to set up a brand new computer, turn it on, and have it ready to go with the OS already installed, and all the software I need already on the Start menu…

The other part of me wants to build a Linux box…
