It’s arguably not even the most famous “chicken” named candy. There was Chicken Dinner back in the day. (That was before my time, though. Looks like it got discontinued in the early 60s.)
Yeah, I always wondered about the name as there doesn’t seem to be any chicks included whatsoever. I don’t even think eggs are involved.
I remember many times walking home from school and stopping at the liquor store to cash in a couple of Coke bottles (three cents each, and you’d have yourself a nickel plus a penny; enough to buy the candy bar of your choice). For some reason, I’d only ever notice the Chick-o-Sticks on Fridays in Lent.
And I never bought one until I was nearly 20 years old, because I was afraid they had chicken in them. o_0
