I believe he is a Mormon. Mormon’s have a long history of violence so he’s just carrying on the tradition.
Ditka is well out of the ordinary for Mormons in my personal experience. The vast majority of Mormons I’ve met personally (most of them in the Navy) were unusually kind and compassionate. Of course, that’s just my own experience.
Whatever gripes against Mormons I might conjure up, I would never stoop to suggesting that they’re all like HD. That would be cruel.
Remember the assholes who were like, “Just because there are various women who accused Kavanaugh and who have gone on record, that doesn’t mean he did anything wrong”?
Now, some of these same assholes accept someone has a history of domestic violence based on nothing more than the person’s DENIAL that they have committed domestic violence.
I’m trying really really hard to figure out what the difference might be.
I live in the West and we have a lot of sovcits, militias, american redoubt, preppers, etc. A lot of them also happen to be Mormon. Take the Bundys for example:
Now, I’m not saying this is true of all Mormons, or even a majority, but if there is a radical militia guy in UT, you can guess what church he attends. And the church does have a history of violence.
Honestly you don’t even have to say “radical militia guy in Utah”, just “guy in Utah”. The LDS Church pretty much owns that state.
And like iiandyiiii, my personal interactions with Mormons have been generally very good. I grew up with a Mormon family across the street and one of them was my best friend, the whole family was always nice. I had a huge crush on a Mormon girl in high school and considered “converting” to get her to date me (but never sank that low).
…Then again if I see two young men in my neighborhood with black slacks, white shirts and ties and backpacks, and riding bicycles, I’m turning off the TV and lights and pretending to not be home.
The difference is between your allegation that the only evidence of domestic violence is his denial, and the actual truth.

I have plenty of friends that are Mormon. Same is true of evangelical christians. I still dislike both religions (well, mostly all religions) for different reasons. Just like I have conservative friends and family but I hate the Republican party.
