Some of them are making the legitimate cost/benefit calculation that takes into account probabilities of being a victim of a legitimate fear. I haven’t done a survey. If you just want me to admit that I enjoy tweaking Shodan for his racism, then sure – I do. But I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t also want to inform others, and maintain the hope that maybe one day he’ll realize his (perhaps unconscious) racism and want to change. I noted carefully the conditions you stipulated. My impressions of the reality in which I find myself lead me to understand that, with a vanishingly small number of exceptions, it is NOT an option. They also lead me to understand that the vast majority of individuals for whom it IS an option have found themselves a niche, if you will, in which emigration is not the optimal choice for them to make.
This all leads me to conclude that, while suggesting that it’s an option is not in and of itself racist, it IS pig-ignorant.
