I found this kitten.........

One of the technicians adopted him. Load off my mind.

Until next time …

You did good.

Yay!

I do rescue and we are attempting to qualify for some external funding. One of the things we have implemented is a policy where no animal is adopted out without being spayed or neutered first. One of our vets is completely on board with this and does pediatric speuters for us regularly. If they are over 3 lbs and in good health, they can be done.

It gives us peace of mind that the animal is already fixed, and that if we unknowingly adopted out a cat to an irresponsible person (which we try to avoid with a screening process) they can’t reproduce.

They heal so much faster, the surgery is safer, I could go on and on…

He took it home and his wife doesn’t like it so it’s back. Crap.

My wife had a shit fit this morning because one of the cats pinched one off on the kitchen floor. I’m ready to give up and just take it home.

Sorry to hear that.

Surely there are options to getting the pet adopted. I am unsure of why you cannot get it to one of your local, no-kill, animal shelters. If for whatever reason you cannot then try calling them and I would not be surprised if they send someone around to pick it up. As a kitten he’s likely to get adopted quickly there so that would be ideal.

Barring that ask neighbors or friends. Or take it to church (or just stand in front of a church on Sunday if you do not attend a church) with a sign saying “free kitten”.

Call your local paper and ask them to feature the cat as needing adoption for a feel-good piece.

Take him to work and bug your co-workers (I ended up with a cat this way…someone brought in a rescued kitten and begged someone to take it…my wife couldn’t resist).

Put it in a box and leave it on the steps of the local police or fire station (do not forget holes for air and do not drop it there in the sun and heat).

Find a little girl in the neighborhood and plop it in her arms. When she runs home what parent can say no to the “can we keep it?” question? Ok, so that one is manipulative but still better than turning it loose.
