I get that I don't get why you don't go with the internet.

So you admit it? The post was due to your job and the other guy? Very serious, if true; you should get the guy (not that one, the other one) to look into it and see if you’re exposed here. The ramifications could have consequences, and it will never be the same. Your covenant is… look, it’s been signed, alright? All the parties. Yes.

That almost made sense, by my limited standards. Meaning it didn’t.

“We’re looking for someone with a Rolodex.”

Christ, I’ve been working in that industry (not teddy bears) for twelve years, but as a designer, not a salesman. And I’m ready to make that step. And I’ve done sales, though not always successfully (see: teddy bears). But a Rolodex? Did you even read my resume? I’ve worked on jobs so fucking high end that I worked with estate managers, not GCs (General Contractors). GCs are easily dismissed. Rolodexes are for people who work with GCs.

And yeah, I’m getting all sorts of egotistical here, but I haven’t had much opportunity for it lately and it feels good. And 'twas a time I made four times as much as at the teddy bear place, so nostalgia can also feel good. Though those happy times are gone.

Given the level of incoherence of some of your posts, I’d say you’re being more of an unenabler.

I can’t believe this thread is still going… I guess I didn’t help the matter by posting this observation though. Oh well.

I can’t believe that chucklehead is an engineer. Must be one of those mail order diplomas.

whoosh

That happens to me sometimes. Often, actually, but I try not to admit it.

We’re all talking trash about you and you’ve been a really good sport. You’re earning merits for good character.

Back in the day, as an undergrad in Civil Engineering, I made quite a comfortable side income writing and proofreading term papers and theses for the techie types on campus. The University of South Florida had a large Engineering department, as well as many other technical majors, so I had quite a clientele. Tech-types can’t write for shit, and English majors don’t know squat about technology, so, since I kind of straddled the disciplines, I filled a niche that was wide open.

I also got the USF Oracle (the school newspaper) to give me press credentials so I could write about the science and technology stories they wanted to cover. I got so frustrated at the Journalism and Mass Comm people totally screwing up every article that involved any kind of science.

I believe you are right about the thought processes of engineering types that they have trouble with written communications.

But YOU put together an understandable post. And, dropzone has, too. In fact, if we threw in a comment about how much we love the DH rule, he’d come back with three well-thought-out paragraphs. He just really didn’t care about us when he’s posting to this thread.

And that’s what it comes down to. If you give a shit about people, you’ll look at things from their perspective. And think “Okay, have I given them enough info here to let them know what’s going on?”

And if you don’t care that much, then don’t click “submit”…

[digs does this… decides he should explain that a DH is not a Douche Hat rule, but Designated Hitter]
[then gets distracted by whether there should be a Douche Hat rule in MLB, or in public schools…]
[see, digs can be ADHD too]
[and talk in the third person]
[which is also annoying]

BTW, Twickster just closed a thread after 3 posts in MPSIMS, saying

Given your obvious lack of intellect and communication ability I suggest you get used to having shitty low paying jobs.

These days, a* lot* of good intellects and able communicators have shitty, low-paying jobs.

He probably is. Sorta like the one who designed the equipment at my last company. The one where I told everybody if I ever go postal, I’m going to shoot the equipment, so the rest of the employees would get good new stuff after I’m hauled away.

Of course, I was working as a civil engineering technician, too, so most of the buildings I worked on were also designed by engineers like him.
