I don’t go in MSPSIMS because of the annoying flirty banter. I prefer to read threads that are actually about something. So, as long as it’s kept in there, I have no objection. However, when it starts creeping into every forum and threads where it doesn’t really belong, it’s annoying, attention-seeking behavior.
Or maybe I just don’t see what people get out of it. Maybe someone could explain the appeal? To me, it’s just kind of creepy.
It only bothers me when an otherwise interesting thread gets hijacked into a flirt-fest. Otherwise, put me in the “friendly banter” camp.
Besides, I never get flirted with in real life, because I’m an ugly troll, so I enjoy the illusion that someone might find me attractive.

Frankly, I think it’s a shame that someone like Kythereia, who seems to be friendly to everyone who isn’t actively rude to her, would be browbeaten into changing her behavior by a handful of whiners. Yes, I realize this board is nominally about Fighting Ignorance, but I really think we could use a banner across the top that says “Lighten up.” On more than one occasion, some of the cute flirts going on (even though not directed at me) have brought a smile to my face. I count that as a good thing.
And so, to Kythereia, Anaamika, harmless and all the other friendly flirts out there, I say… “Hi!”

Now, I’m not knocking you for that-talk about what you want. But don’t then turn around and call other people “creepy” for a little friendly joking around. As long as people aren’t totally hijacking a thread, what difference does it make?
I can’t believe that this is a burning issue for anyone.
If you click on a thread and it’s all “how you doin’?” etc–how hard is it to click out of it? Either join in or depart.
Now, I do see the point about if the topic is one that many folks want to chime in on (what a sentence!)-but even then, the “flirting” is usually only 2-3 people who are riffing on some minor point or subtext. They’re not hard to ignore.
I liken this place to a party alot of the time–and at any good party, you will have some good discussions in one part of the room, some blatant pick-ups and flirting elsewhere, lots of humor and chit chat etc.
Take it in stride.

I do think flirting is harmless (hee!) but I also understand people getting annoyed by it. However, I was just getting tired of all the harping about it. It’s just a phase, like when everyone was saying “I pit” in the Pit.
mrklutz, it was just one person who jumped on Kythereia. Now I am not commenting on that one person, (they’ve already spoken up in this thread) they did what they felt like they had to I suppose, but to me the fact that **Kythereia ** would stop because one person asked her means she’s a nice person. I rather liked her style, I mean, her name does mean the goddess of love, after all.

What I like about message board flirting is it doesn’t matter what the person on the other end looks like. I’m flirting with a personality. If you got a cute personality, I flirts.
