I don’t do pic-sharing sites, so unfortunately NO PICS. But, I finally succumbed to the yearnings and I’m the proud mumma of a 9 week old, long-haired, chocolate miniature Doxie pup! His name is Jasper.
I picked him up last week, after days of ‘puppy-proofing’ my home, browsing through pet-stores for the latest and greatest toys, blankets, crates yada yada. I was more prepared for this pup than I was for ANY of my kids!
Anyway, he’s a darling. Just a few ‘accidents’ inside (mostly due to my neglect). He’s a grazer rather than a pig, sleeps all through the night on my bed (no accidents there either) and all in all, just a grouse pup. Oh, and he’s stopped whining whenever I leave the room, and he hasn’t barked ONCE.
Of course, I expect that to change over the next weeks and months. I’m not so stupid to think that these halcyon early days will continue. But, I’m crossing my fingers, that Jasper is going to be a GOOD BOY, OH YOU ARE A GOOD BOY, WHAT A GOOD BOY YOU ARE.
Of course if you do not want to share pics that is absolutely fine and 100% up to you. I would just say you can share pics, if you want to, easily and anonymously via Imgur. It is free, no account creating needed whatsoever, and it strips all meta data from the uploaded picture (so no one can learn where it was taken or what not). Just drag-and-drop a photo on your computer to the website and copy the link. That’s all there is to it.
Again, absolutely your choice and if you do not want to I get it. Just letting you know cuz I’d love to see the little dude!
Congrats on the new pup! May you have many adventures together! Give him an ear-scritch from me.
Hey @Gatopescado, thanks for all your advice earlier in the year. I didn’t get one from the litter at that point, but bided my time, did my homework, and now got suckered in.
How exciting, @kambuckta! If you’re a fan, you’re a fan. I’m a fan, too! The silly little idiots really get under your skin. Natural comics, all.
Consistency and routine is everything in toilet training, and doxies can be particularly difficult. My first one was easy – he just got it. The one I have now, well… he’s 2 1/2 and only just completely getting with the program. He’s fine so long as we follow a strict routine, but I’d never trust him to notify me that it’s time. I consider it a victory in every instance he goes and sits by the door when he has to go. When they’re little, every hour or two for a piddle is not too often!
I’d love to see pictures, too, but I understand posting them can be a challenge.
All the very best wishes to you and Jasper – dachshunds are the best, in my terribly somewhat biased opinion.
Congratulations on adopting Jasper! I love the name, too – very distinguished! May you have many happy years together!
The absence of pictures is breaking the hearts of the dogs and dog lovers here. Out of curiosity, since I was unfamiliar with the breed, I did an image search for miniature doxie puppies. Oh my goodness, such an overload of cuteness – every single one!
God help you. I love my sister’s little shithead but I couldn’t take it full time. We had to keep him for a few weeks when he was 6 months old and it was rough(ruff).
