It’s been almost a year! Here’s my story on trying to find a damn job in the North East.
I worked for a private school as a disciplinarian for 3 years in North Jersey. My water pipe bursts in my basement and I have to call out for three days to fix everything. Turns out those where the same days that DYFUS ( a child welfare org) came in to the school to investigate reports of unsatifactory conditions. That made me look bad b/c I was out. My boss thought I called them b/c we had some bad vibes from when she fired the co-director and we were friends. I was offored a position for less money in another location but decided to say fuck off and leave.
I was about to buy a car so now I couldn’t.
I tried to get tons of jobs in the Manhattan area:
I got a job at a talent agency…it’s all commission. I made 47 bucks in the 6 months I was there. I then went to numerous staffing agencies and finally scored a good job in sales for a large bank. Turns out after another 5 months of that and making sales and not getting paid, I called the head office asking why I hadn’t gotten paid. My boss then calls me yelling at me for going over his head…I then recieve a check for 2 sales…not my 12 or 15. Then after a while, I find out he was stealing commissions from the reps in the NYC area and they can’t find him. One guy never got paid and he lives in his Altima on 80th and Amsterdam. I went to a marketing company, had a great interview (the guy grew up in the same town as I was in) and he told me to sit and wait for him in the room while he does a quick interview. After a few minutes, a hot little brunette leaves his office smiling. He then asks me to come in and get some info on the company. She walks back in and asks when she starts again. So I guess I didn’t get it. So after more than a year, I got a job at a hotel near me. I have to pay off my credit cards, get out of debt and finish school…that’s all I want. I start on wednesday. I have marketing, PR, HR, art and office management experience if your reading this and you need someone in the NYC area. I also hear that that damn Bloomberg fired more than 3000 people today…it’s not getting any easier thanks to him.

I’m sorry, this was a little confusing. What job did you get? What will you be doing? Congratulations, by the way!
