I got a MyPillow gift certificate for Xmas. Now what?

I remember the days when making things in America was a good thing.

And I remember when buying union-made products was a good thing, because you were supporting decent conditions for workers instead of exploitative sweatshops.

Of course, both those attitudes had the potential to interfere with employers’ ability to maximize their own profits while depressing wages and job security at home, by exploiting sweatshop manufacturing in low-wage low-protections countries overseas. So naturally, “economic conservatives” have always tried to discredit and disparage both “buy union” and “buy American” consumer preferences.

It just occurred to me - I’m surprised (and glad) my parents don’t have any MyPillows in their house (as far as I know), as many times as they see the commercials on Fox. But again, resell the gift certificate since it’s already bought, to prevent an additional sale.

Yes, the idea was that we might all be able to benefit from industry. Now we try to raise our own income while keeping everyone else’s at a minimum so we can buy cheap stuff, and get all whiny if someone is getting a good wage
