My AVG Resident Shield keeps picking up Trojan horse PSW.Briss.D in file C:\WINNT\system32\hurrican3.exe and it tells me to run AVG for Windows, but it doesn’t find it when I run it. I don’t know how bad this Trojan is, but I know its better to remove then wait and find out. Can anyone help?
I would just delete the file. You may need to boot into safe mode to do it.
You may want to back the file up first if you think it may be a legitimate file that has been infected.
My dads computer has the same one. I’m really starting to hate avg.
Try temporarily shutting down AVG and use an alternative checker/cleaner.
As an instance you could go to the Zone Alarm site that will do an online scan for you. It is intended to be a pre-installation scan but does the job just the same.
I used to get a similar message with AVG, but it turns out that it was something that was trying to load and it caught it. Scans with that and another program didn’t turn anything up, but every time certain popups came on, I’d get the message.
Are you running Windows XP or ME?
You’ll need to purge your system restore folder.
Go to the middle of this page.
reboot… and run the scan again. With luck, it will show up clean…as you’ll have rid yourself of the infection that was stuck in your restore files.
Don’t forget to re-enable system restore when you’re done.
Ha bloody Ha
Well I paid for membership, but never have anything insightful to add, so I make stupid posts every now and again to make myself feel better
