I’m very excited about this!!! I graduated Class of 2002, and was blessed enough to have received my International Baccalaureate Diploma. Which gave me 30 credit hours. Orginally, at the time, my then bf was going to go to Georgia Tech, and I was supposed to go to either Spelman or Georgia State, but money did not allow it and so I stayed in Panama City, FL to go to Community College for a year, then transfer to GA.
Problem is I have a scholarship called Bright Futures which pays 100% of my tuition and fees so it makes more sense for me to stay in the state of Florida where the scholarship applies. I didn’t see that before, but then somewhere after first semester (I got straight A’s!) I decided I’d rather stay in FL and go to Florida State. Plus, my then bf and I broke up.
I was really nervous about getting in, because I would be one class short of my AA degree, which it was they really look for in transfers. Even though I had a 4.1 in high school and a 4.0 in college so far I was extremly worried, because it wasn’t garaunteed to me like it was for those students with their AA degrees. Plus I went to Tallahasee to get an apartment with my best friend who lives there already, 3 months ago. So if I didn’t get in, I’d still have to move.
Well, the worrying is over, and all is well. I received my acceptance letter yesterday and I’m very excited! Also, I found out that although I am a pre-Business major and will be short one class to complete my AA degree in that, I can still get my General AA and still transfer as a Junior to FSU in the Business Program! Things are working out well this week!
This has nothing to do with FSU, but I also got a great Summer job at this really great restaurtant on the beach! I work at O’Charley’s now, and we average about 55$ a night there, whereas at the Treasure Ship (new job) he told me not to be discouraged if I start out only making $100 a night. So I’m really happy and anticipating that I can make enough money to hopefully pay my rent for the first semester!
I’m really happy about all of this as you all can probably tell! Things haven’t been the greatest this year. I just had to share it! Thank you for giving me the opportunity!
