I got my IB diploma!!!!

After 4 years of sweating out the extremly hectic International Baccalaureate curriculum, I was awarded with the coveted IB Diploma. Which means here in the State of Florida, I can go to any public school FREE! I got a 100% scholarship. Also, at the college that i’ve already chosen, I can skip my Freshman year. I’m so excited. I studied hard, and it paid off. Unfortuneately (sp?) some of my other friends weren’t as lucky. But some of them tried, and some didn’t. I’M SO EXCITED!!

P.S. I’m sure many people have no clue what IB is and all, and what it takes to get the diploma, but that’s ok. I just wanted to tell everyone!!! But it did take quite a bit.

Many, many congratulations to you!!! I know what an accomplishment that is! Very impressive.

My daughter chose not to follow the IB route - she wanted to be able to have a job and participate in other activities. She has been all Honors, and next year she’s taking 3 AP courses, so we’re expecting her to walk away with a Bright Futures Scholarship.

Several of her friends tried IB, and most have dropped out - it was just too much for them. I think it’s terrific that you were able to stick with it!

Where are you going to college?

<tossing confetti with wild and reckless abandon>

I was going to go to UF, but chose to stay here in Panama City for a year and go to Community College for a year. To save money. I got the 100% Bright Futures scholarship! I was so happy. Many dropped out. My IB class ended with only 50 students. It was hard. I worked my Junior and Senior year, while being heavily involved with a lot of extracurricular activities. It was hard, but now I feel like it was so worth it. Thank you so much though! IB can be great, but it’s not for everyone.

Congratulations! I graduated from the IB program in 2001, with 40 points. It was definitely worth it, even though around draft 5 of my Extended Essay I really wanted to say “screw this”.
So again, congratulations. Anyone who makes it through the IB definitely deserves it.

Man auRa you are definitely smart. That’s an awesome job! I wrote my extended essay in a week. about 5 days total. I wrote some, gave it to my teacher, and wrote some more. I didn’t work too too hard on it. But I got a C. I worked really hard on my Theory Of KNowledge paper though. Yet, I still only got a C. Oh well! I still got my diploma! Thank you!

Oh, Jenny, and here I was expecting to met someone else who would go to UF. Hope it all goes well!

Congrats! I graduated from an IB program in 1998 from one of the largest IB schools - go 0443 :). College was definitely a breeze because of it - good luck!

I was offered the IB route when I was in Florida…it was a lot of work, and would have involved me going to Rickards for school, which at the time was the worst school in Tallahassee (may still be, i dunno). I opted to stay with public education and maintain a life.

Congrats!! You should be proud!

** KarlGrenze**, Yup! I was going to go, but the main reason I stayed was because I didn’t get housing. UF was my second choice, I was accepted into a school in Georgia, but they didn’t give me any financial aid, so at the very last moment I said i’d go to UF, but then I decided I didn’t want to wait 6 months for housing. I’m broke as it is! However, many of my friends are going there, so when I go to visit maybe I’ll email ya and we can all meet sometime! But I must warn you, we aren’t used to big cities, and having a life, so we may be too excited.

Many people feel like IB limits your life, I surely didn’t let it limit mine, which also made it harder, (I procrastinated a lot! :smack: ) but I still always made sure I did my work on time, even if I did it the night before it was due. : )

Thank you to all who have congratulated me! I am very proud!

Wow, good for you! I did IB…started out with a full class and only 3 ended up with their diplomas. I wasn’t one of them. I didn’t want to take physics. Sad but true. I suppose if we had been offered free education I might have tried harder but with absolutely no incentives except the diploma, I opted for the Advanced Academics diploma instead.
I’m impressed. I hope you enjoy college life knowing you’re one of the smarties.
