I got my belly button pierced!

And it was nothing! A mere pin prick. I’ve stubbed my toe and it hurt more. This is my I-quit-my-job-and-am-ready-to-do-crazy-things piercing. But it wasn’t that crazy, it didn’t hurt, it was clean, my piercer was awesome. Next on the list of crazy things is to get a Ghanize Adinkra symbol tattooed on my ankle.

Yep, it’s mundane, it’s pointless and I HAD to share it.

Congratulations!!

so what kind of ring is in there? Care to post pics somewhere?

It’s a stainless steel hoop, about double the thickness of your standard earring hoop. My piercer, Teresa, referred to it as a standard size hoop, and I didn’t ask what guage it is. And it has the ball in the middle to join the ends together. As for pictures, you’ve seen one belly button hoop, you’ve seen them all.

But we haven’t seen your navel, dearie.

Very cool Swimming. I wish you many more happy piercings!

Congratulations on your new ornamentation but I have to ask the obvious question. What’s a Ghanize Adinkra?

Gotta back up Mr. Cynical on this one. Take good care of it; navel piercings are damned sexy if you’ve got the belly for them. On me, it would not work so well…

Congratulations! I loved my belly button ring. I got it done on my 30th birthday; kind of a “I’m reclaiming my youth” thing. Unfortunately, Mr. Golf didn’t think it was so great, so after two years I had it taken out and gave it to him in a jewelery box in his Christmas stocking as a surprise.

Enjoy!!

Do bubbles come out of it when you sit in the tub?

Not too many, or then she’d be riddled with holes.

It’s probably 14 gauge. But I’d have to study it closer to be sure. C’mon Swiddles, in the name of pursuit of knowledge? Please?

I had an odd dream the other night wherein I had a ring in my nose. That was interesting.

You get a who with the what now?

Congrats, Swiddles!

A belly button ring is one of those things that I’ve kinda wanted for a while now, but I just don’t have the bod (or the job, or the husband) that would allow me to show it off in the way those things should be properly displayed. I’m just happy I finally got my little tattoo!

Adinkra is a pictological language. It comes from Ghana.

Good going on the Belly ring Swiddles! I’m sure it makes a sexy girl even sexier

Belly ring? Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. I’ve never wanted you more.

When I got my nipples pierced I wanted to carry a big sign saying—Guess what I did? But I didn’t. Mostly because I didn’t want to keep saying “No you can’t see it” but also because I enjoyed having a secret that only a few people shared. I am probably the most unlikely person you would think to have body piercings–a 40+ year old professional with grown kids-- but why shouldn’t I have them? My breasts are my best feature, it makes sense to decorate them. I also enjoy shopping for new jewelry. I can’t think of any draw backs, except that once you get one piercing you always want more. It only hurt for a few seconds, and the site was tender for a week or two. It hurt a lot worse when I stubbed my toes(and broke 'em), too.

I’m sure you received a lot of instruction regarding site care but I can’t resist throwing in my 2 cents worth. It will heal a lot faster if you wash it 3 times a day with antibacterial soap (like dial or softsoap) and NEVER touch it or let anyone else touch it without washing your hands first. I know this is easier said than done but trust me, it is very tempting to want to pick at the ring and stuff. Rubbing alcohol, peroxide and antibiotic ointments are not usually recommended. I found a drop tea tree oil followed by a dab of A & D ointment very soothing and I think it really helps it heal faster. I had mine done about 6 months apart and didn’t use the tea tree oil on the first one and it took about a month longer to heal than the second one.

Enjoy your new navel and have fun shopping for body jewelry:D Just don’t put anything goldplated in there, at least for the first few months. It should be solid gold or you may have an allergic reation to the base metal. It’s worth paying a few bucks more for it.

What, no picture? No link? What the hell kind of aristocratic beauty are you?

and ya know… a belly button piercing hurts ten times more than a tongue piercing… I PROMISE!

Ah. From GaWd’s mouth to my ear. So the next question is, I suppose, which symbol?

And, since I didn’t say so before, good work on the piercing, Swiddles. Bellybutton rings get the big thumbs up on Lux’s Appeal-o-meter, as do eyebrow and nose rings.
