I got my biopsy results today

Best wishes on a quick recovery, ivylass.

I hope things go smoothly for you. We’re all pulling for you.

Add me to the Dopers putting you foremost in our thoughts.

Missed this earlier, but best wishes Ivylass and I’m sure you can beat this :).

I’m sorry I didn’t see this thread til now. Ivylass, I’m so sorry you and yours have to go through this. On a purely selfish note; thank you for getting your mammogram done and getting diagnosed early. We stand a much better chance of having you around for quite a while longer because of it. hugs

You were in my thoughts during the Relay this weekend, Ivylass. I hope everything goes well for you!

Thanks, Suse. I hope you had a good time.

There’s a walk at Disney World in October…hopefully I’ll be well enough to do that. My question is do you have to be part of a team or raise money for your walk? Cuz I pretty much suck at selling stuff and I’d rather just sign up, pay the fee, and walk.

If you contact the local Relay sponsors, they could probably set you up with a team if you don’t know of any already. The only sale I was involved with was a bake sale, and beyond that I didn’t sell anything in particular.

I’m sure they’d be happy to have you, but as I was reminded this weekend, the purpose is to raise money (so it didn’t really matter, I guess, that we were just about the only team who had at least one member on the track at all times). So we’re ramping up the fundraising events for next year, but the focus to me is still the walk.

Ivylass, so you have an intraductal carcinoma of one breast? Had they mentioned the size of the area? Have you had MRI results yet? Have you definitively been told you will need radiation? If not, you may be fretting about something you don’t have to. There’s enough to fret about as it is! How did you end up telling your husband and how did he take it? Have you told the rest of your family?

I just had a bilateral mastectomy 8 weeks ago. I had the same type of cancer as you. Maybe it’s just me, but this has turned out to be very much NOT a big deal. But I had to learn an awful lot about breast cancer and all that goes with it, in a very short period of time! You probably feel pretty overwhelmed right now, but as you learn more, both about breast cancer and about your particular situation, you’ll feel more in control. As so many other posters have said, breast cancer is very, very survivable these days.

We are all thinking of you every minute.

Bibby

I have the IDC, and there’s a pre-cancerous region called an Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia.

The IDC is less than 2cm, so it’s small and early. I’m definitely getting the surgery, and from what I’ve read, most likely the radiation, with chemo and hormone therapy also possibilities.

I hope your recovery is going well, Bibby. I don’t feel like I have cancer…I feel fine.

Ivylass, sorry to hear you may be going through this. I finished chemo in Jan and radiation on Tax Day. Never had a moment of nausea during either treatment. There are some days of exhaustion with the chemo, but the treatments are much improved over the past. There are several really BC-specific support boards on the web if you want to hear about them. They are good for the middle-of-the-night crazies.
