I got my cholesterol down 60 points in three months!

I went from a total 267/HDL 73/LDL 181 to a total 207/ HDL 65/ LDL 123 in three months, with just diet and exercise changes. How’s that for mundane and pointless? I have been eating more fiber, less butter and cheese, and really ramped up the exercise–now that the weather’s warm I can bike now. I wasn’t thinking it would budge, since neither my mother or grandmother have had any luck controlling cholesterol by diet.

Good job. Keep going, and don’t be satisfied until you hit your goal. And tell you family they should keep at it too.

Wow, that’s amazing. You make me almost want to try it, except for the fact that I’d rather give up the last 5 years of my life in order to eat butter and cheese.

My mother has high cholesterol and she literally eats like a bird - she’s never weighed more than 120 in her life, and right now is a skinny old lady. She eats very healthily, exercises regularly, and her cholesterol won’t budge. So I’ve assumed mine is the same (it’s moderately hight).

Well, I didn’t eliminate cheese, I just buy smaller amounts of better cheese rather than large blocks of mediocre cheese.

Good on you! I couldn’t budge mine one point. For three months I touched not butter or eggs, severely curtailed red meat and cheese, and ate enough oats to keep a stable of racehorses happy - results, jack squat. So I had to go on Lipitor, and even with my insurance, that stuff is $25 a month. It did bring my cholesterol way down, though.

Odd…right before seeing this thread a co-worker stopped in to inform me that he has “the fat of three men” coursing through his veins. Apparently his total cholesterol is over 300!

Good job, and I hope you have even more success!

ETA: gah…mistyped the figure. It’s not 350…just 300 :smack:

Congratulations! That’s a great accomplishment. It’s all the better because it looks like you’ll be able to stick with your regime for the long haul.

Coincidentally, yesterday two doctors and a med tech had a “contest” to see who had the best cholesterol reading. Wild and crazy bunch we are!
