This afternoon. If anyone was listening. The hell of it is, Mr. Rilch was listening in his truck, but turned the show off before Elder started taking callers. So he didn’t know about it until I told him when he got home.
Still, w00t!

No explanation?
Also, Larry Elder is a douchebag.
If you mean, what did I say to him, I asked if he had any ideas how we could counter the sense of entitlement so many people have nowadays. Also, I think it went over well with him when I started out with, “You know what they say: a conservative is a liberal who’s just been mugged.”
Why do you say he’s a douchebag?
I was kinda joking, but I don’t particularly like his style. I think graduated from the Sean Hannity school of debate. I’ve read two of his books, and most the arguments presented in them are specious. His TV show is pretty bad, and he has a wooden personality. He also strikes me as a sellout. There’s only so many times I can listen to his “personal responsibility” routine before I get nauseous. He’s a one-trick pony. Sorry for the hijack, I didn’t mean to rain on your parade.
Uh…are you saying that because he’s black, he’s obligated to be liberal?
Well, that’s what resonates with me. Also, he’s local, so he’s more relevant to me than national commentators.
No sweat.
No, I don’t begrudge anyone their opinions, informed or otherwise. I call him a sellout because I feel like he, as a black person, should know first hand about many of the problems black people face in this country. Yet they are given short shrift in order to appeal to a wider, more conservative audience. It’s not really a conservative/liberal thing. It’s the fact that he continually parrots illogical conservative talking points when he should know better. Underneath all of his calls for more “personal responsibility” is a belief that people are stupid/poor/etc. because they don’t try hard enough- that they deserve to be that way. His views on many things like that are far to simplistic for my liking, YMMV.
Could be that no one person is qualified to be the mouthpiece for their entire demographic. Could also be that he knows about those problems, but doesn’t think they’re excuses for everything.
I think it does. I don’t see him as a clone of Hannity, O’Reilly or any other conservative commentator. I could say more, but it would be better suited for GD.
