Back when I was in my early 20s, I wanted a tattoo, but motivation and finances never coincided. Then I got married and abandoned the idea. Now I’m divorced and starting a new life so I revived the idea, but I couldn’t decide on a design.
Friday evening it came to me like a flash: Dominoes. I am a 42 fiend. I’ve spent countless hours playing and drinking so dominoes are a reflection of that.
The specific bricks I chose are also relevant: the 4-2 and the 6-3.
4-2 obviously signifies 42.
4+2=6
6+3=9
The year I was born as well as that “other” meaning.
Congrats! Good for you. Watch out though, tattoos are addictive I have 3 and decided to stop there - I don’t want to look like I belong in a circus as the “Tattooed Lady” or something (I think Mom appreciates my moratorium on tattoos also). Kudos to you for following through with a long held dream.
I have a UPC symbol on my right ankle and am dying to get a band on my left ankle. I am thinking that two bands of a tribal design with my social security number in binary in between. Either that or a circuit design with the SSN.
I have a 27 year old tattoo of an anchor on my left forearm. I was fresh out of Navy boot camp and was spending my first birthday away from home. Over the years everything has spread a bit so it is not as sharp as it use to be and all the color except the black has faded away. It cost me only $20.
Right on! I got my first tattoo (a skull on the inside of my left heel) in 1990 in New Orleans. This was before the tattoo fad had hit, and my parents (I was 18) were none too thrilled, but of course it was too late.
I got my second (an arrow on the top of my left shoulder) in 2000. I love it.
I figure I’ll get one in every decade year. Next (in 2010) I want the Kon-Tiki face on my bicep, or maybe the back of my hand.
Anyway, congratulations; I’ve never once been sorry for either of mine, and don’t intend to. But I’ll second the warning about them being addictive.
I think I’ll be getting one shortly. I’ve got some ideas, but nothing definite yet. As far as them being addictive, I’ve decided that I just want to keep everything above my wrists and below my neck. And I just don’t think I’d ever go for anything in the whole crotch area, even if I thought it might be cool. Also, I think I’ll keep from getting anything on my forearms for now, just due to the possibility of sun damage.
Hmmm… I really should get around to nailing down a final design.
I was thinking of getting a design composed of the maple leaf, the fleur de lys, Montreal’s flower and a pink triangle, but now that they’re thinking of changing Montreal’s logo I think I’ll wait on it.
Personally, I would never get a tattoo, but if I had to get one, I’d either get some kind of Viking design, or a can opener. Then people would ask me, “Why do you have a tattoo of a can opener?” and I would say, “Because it’s beautiful.”
I’ve decided to get one, too. I’d never wanted one before, but suddenly, it hit me…I want one.
I found a very attractive Celtic knot design, and I hope they’re able to use the picture I downloaded. If not, I’ll have to re-draw it myself, and I’m not much of a draftsman. Maybe I’ll get an artist friend to do it for me.
I’m 34 and I’ve been planning one for about 15 years now. I have finalyl got the design I want too - actual desired size. Problem is, the artist I consulted said it’s way too detailed, and would have to be about 5x the size for them to do it. Anyone got any suggestions?
I have a tattoo right over my spine, just below the shoulder line, of a dragon sitting on a celtic-style cross, drawn to look like stained glass. I could probably do a better drawing for it now, but everyone seems to like it and it was more to be a reminder to me than something for people to gawk at. (I did the art/had it done right after I turned 18.)
Awesome tattoo jinwicked. I have three tattoos myself (and may get another one this summer). I have one on my right shoulder blade, one on the lower left side of my back, and one on my left ankle. I don’t know where to put the next one so I may just put my kids names around one of the tattoos I already have.
I’m planning on getting a tattoo this summer myself. My half sister from Oregon is coming in for a visit at the end of June and we’re going together to get Fairy tattoos (Amy Brown fairies to be exact) and I’m really excited. I’ve not decided on a single fairy yet, I’m still debating on a few and there’s a possibility that we may just get matching http://www.liquid2k.com/pinkchampagne/bookfaery.jpg <-- book fairies. Either way it’s going to be quiet the sisterly bonding experience!
