That new song by REM. I don’t even know what it’s called, but it’s beautiful. Maybe heard it two or three times, but it’s the catchiest tune ever. The video’s pretty neat too.
That sugar cane, that tasts so sweet…
What’s it called? And do you guys agree it’s a great song? Makes me wanna go out, sit on a terrace, have a beer, look at beautiful girls, and then drink some more beer. Spring is here, woo!
[sub]Alright, can’t get more mundane than this. I’ve reached my quotom for this week.[/sub]
I’m very sorry to say that I’ve got “It’s Raining Men” by Geri Holliwell (formerly of the Spice Girls) running through my head. Caught the video last night (one long nightmarish reference to “Fame” - I stared at it with fascinated horror, unable to turn away), and I’ve been trapped by it ever since.
Gonna have to go over and listen to the new REM. Even if I don’t like it, it’s sure to be an improvement.
Ultimate spring song? “Many Miles Before I Go” by John Hiatt. Among about a billion other songs.
“Imitation of Life” is a very good song, I agree, and I would love for that to be the song in my head right now. Unfortunately, that position is occupied by “It’s Gonna Be Me” because a friend just emailed me about N’Sync tickets, which she’s trying to unload. Anyone interested?
While we’re waiting, does anyone know the actual name of that song/recitation by John Prine about Lake Marie, the one I hated so much at first, and have grown to love, because, well, it’s by John Prine, f’goosh sake!
I realize, of course, that this constitutes a hijack, because it’s not a “spring” song- it’s a “lake” song.
Actually, the ultimate spring song for me will now be (for the next few years, anyway) “40 Boys in 40 Nights” by the Donnas. I just bought their newest album a couple of weeks ago, and I can’t stop humming that song. The whole album is pretty damn cool.
Of course now, thanks to a co-worker, I’ve got Journey’s “Open Arms” in my head. Feh.
Most of the songs that end up stuck in my head are from children’s television.
I do a great Elmo’s World theme song, and Bear in the Big Blue House has the catchiest damn songs I have ever heard. Great for kids, death for parents.
I even heard my dad (the grandpa) singing one the other day, I think it was Bear’s.
Speaking of kids’ songs, EJsGirl – Do you watch any Veggie Tales videos? My kids checked out the Silly Song video from the library and I haven’t been able to get those things out of my head yet. Everybody sing!
You’re his cheeseburger
His yummy cheeseburger
He’ll wait for you-u-u-u
Anyone? Anyone?
And yeah – “Imitation of Life” is an awesome spring song. I heard it agin this morning on my way to wrok. I couldn’t roll the windows down though because it was raining. Oh, well.
Not a spring song, but vaguely on topic…
I’ve been singing If I only had a brain from The Wizard of Oz for 2 days straight.
drat. It really won’t go away.
