I had a weird headache/vertigo thing tonight

I’ve been experiencing vertigo again, and I intend to start exercises today. The thing is last night after I got my husband in bed. I had a headache, my ears always ring, but they were much louder than usual. I was on the bed half asleep and having weird dreams/sights? And I was thinking, "Maybe I should go get my son. Something doesn’t feel right, but it was like another me would opine that I was just looking for attention. I would drift off and do the jerk awake thing. At one point I was wondering what a stroke was like. Then it was over. Still a bit of vertigo, and as above I’ve had ringing in my ears for decades. Headache gone and weird dreams and odd thoughts all gone. Maybe I’m losing it? Not that I’ve ever had it altogether anyway. I do try though. )

I just wondered if anyone had any wag about what happened. I will go to my doctor, but as I noted in my Medicare topic I foolishly lost my insurance. I get Medicare in February and I already have an appointment.

Oh woe is me. Sorry about all the medical griping. I’m one of those old ladies now. : (

Sounds partly like Meniere’s. Note that Meniere’s is more or less a set of symptoms lacking explanation, at least according to some. I’ve been diagnosed with it.

I had therapy for BPPV and it did work. Though the vertigo returned. Therapy told me that it would.

What sort of treatment is there for Meniere’s?

You live in Michigan? If you lost health insurance the healthcare marketplace @healthcare.gov can get you enrolled in a plan until Medicare starts.

I don’t know about treatments for Ménière’s disease. But impacted ear wax against your eardrum can cause similar. symptoms

Anecdotally, for me headaches and vertigo and weird sleep are much more of a problem if I become dehydrated.

OK, I found out some of what was wrong.

  • I am having vertigo, as mentioned. I think this made all the other factors worse.

  • I have run out of lexapro and have missed my third dose? I think? Oh, and I found out I still have health insurance and have caught up my premiums.

And finally … drum roll:

  • My son and his girl friend were in the kitchen last night and my son brought me a piece of chocolate caramel. I wasn’t bad. It reminded me of Ice Cubes. He didn’t tell me it was an Edible chocolate as in weed. Man I smoked weed back in the 70’s K? That was a loonnnngggggg time ago, and what we had wasn’t like this stuff. So, between the vertigo, lexapro withdrawal, AND BEING HIGH FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER 40 YEARS, yeah it was a little disconcerting.

To defend my son. He didn’t mean to drug me; he thought he told me what they were. Either he just thought he did or I didn’t hear him, And really I should have known. I’m much relieved and my son felt really bad. I’m having some fun torturing him about it. Good times.

Oh. Lord. Scary times. Glad you’re better and know.

The Lexapro withdrawal itself would have been enough for me to blame it. It’s ridiculous what that can do to you. I would very much suggest you get on that quickly. You should be able to get it without insurance for like $15 (at Walmart). It very much may help with the vertigo.

But, yeah, getting high unknowingly is disturbing AF. I’ve read so many reports of people going to the hospital, thinking they’re going crazy. You’ve got to be very clear with that stuff.

I’ll have lexapro back today. I really should have known when my son offered me candy. I can’t for the life of me think of why it didn’t cross my mind that they’d got it at a dispensary. It’s not like he eats a lot of regular candy; neither of us were thinking. Yeah, and I thought something was wrong crazy, stroke, migraine, aneurysm. I was worried about freaking anyone out, so I almost didn’t tell anyone. I decided to discuss it with my son and my daughter in case something was happening to me. Sheesh, what a cluster.

My wife gets this as her inner ear gets out of whack when she is dehydrated.

Drink water, etc. Try Ginger.

I’ll give it a try. I had physical therapy for it last time. The therapist showed me how to do the maneuvers to fix it, but it hasn’t been bad enough this time for me to be bothered.

Yeah, they showed my wife the same thing,. but keeping hydrated is easier and key.

Will do. Thanks.

My doctor sent me to a vertigo specialist (who knew?), who did a bunch of tests and said “Nope.”
“Huh?”
“You don’t have vertigo.”
“…Except for the times where I have vertigo…”
“No, you’re having part of a migraine.”
She put me on migraine meds, and it’s helped a lot.

eta: Hydration makes a HUGE difference. As does getting enough sleep, using my CPAP, and having a sip of good Scotch at least once a week.

I’ve read that some vertigo can be caused by migraines or vice versa. That’s why my brain drifted to that as one of the possible things “wrong” with me. The physical therapy worked great, but I hear you on hydration. I’m not very good at water drinking. I tell people all the time that water is the first ingredient listed in Coca Cola so that counts as water. I know that’s wrong and I have been trying lately, and I’ll try more now that I’ve gotten a lot of feed back about it regarding veritgo. Seriously, though, water tastes metallic to me.

I also haven’t been wearing my c-pap for a few months. I had a sinus, I dunno, thing for a while; I could not breath through my nose. I’m over that, but I need new equipment

I don’t drink though so the Scotch is right out. Really, my little trip down mary jane memory lane was all the mind altering I need for a while. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
