Not that there’s anything wrong with being gay, I just don’t appreciate the recent influx of spammers on my message board who have to include links to gay porn in the website link of their profile and put little phrases relating to cocks in asses in their messenger links. We’re a nice PG-13 board. We also really hate spam.

So the thing these guys all had in common is that their email addys used the word “gay” but they all had different domains. So I had to wildcard ban “gay”. I realize this will exclude legitimate uses of the word gay and people with gay in their names* who use that as their email addresses. It’s unfortunate but I really hate spam and porn spam of any flavor is the dregs of the spam barrel. I also realize this won’t be a permanent deterrent since spam is endless, it’s just a finger in the dike** of the spam dam and they will find another way through.
*I once met a guy whose full name was Ben Gay. He must have hated his parents.

I know this is really mundane and pointless, but I am home sick for the second day in a row and I’m bored. I suppose we could discuss our hatred of spam and spammers who have to ruin things for everyone. I hate spam.

But you could use a different username with one of the many free domains around … unless they have “gay” “cock” or the f-word in the domain name, which are all banned. Or is they use the words “teen” “nude” and/or “sex” because those are all banned. Or are an .ru domain or .info or .biz because those are always spam and are banned.

Er … well, I’m sure you probably didn’t really want to join anyway.

There’s a small, yet profound difference in this rum manufacturer’s [fake] business email address and the intended parties to ban:

myname@mountgay.com vs myname@mountgays.com

You may end banning one of the world’s fastest men. I had to wade through quite a few Google hits to find him after using “gay track star” as a search string.

I once had to Ben Gay too. That pain in the neck never came back.
