I had to change my way of food shopping because of the new small bags

Just lazy. Bring your own freakin’ bags.

It is awesome how much cleaner seattle is after we banned disposable bags, well except when I forget poo bags walking the dog and cannot find a single one to pick up off the ground…

Disposable plastic bags for carrying groceries are insanely wasteful and is causing serious ecological issues…they are using small bags to try and encourage people to do the correct thing which is to use reusable bags.

Those reusable bags are far less annoying anyway, they actually have handles that don’t tear and they have sides that don’t split and drop all of the contents within a few hundred feet of the door.

I know change can be hard but try it for a while, you will really wonder why you were dealing with those nasty disposable bags in the first place.

I’ve finally figured out how to process cg16’s threads. I read them as Seinfeld episodes.

It doesn’t matter how many bags there are; you claimed they were too heavy to carry.

Switch to a diet of lighter food such as marshmallows and popcorn. Also, try to only go food shopping on rainy days and walk to and from the store with your head back and your mouth open*, that way you won’t need to buy so much juice.

  • Although you may need to rig up some kind of periscope system to see where you’re walking.

And that’s what the ass bags are for! For when you’re aaaaaaall done with the food.

SO DON’T CARRY THEM! Like several people (including me) have suggested, get a cart. Then the only carrying will be getting the cart on and off the trolley (and probably getting it into your home), where the size of the bags will be completely irrelevant (since they will be in your cart).

Carrying your own tote bag is one of the best things in the world. I found this out when I had a cast on my left arm and wanted to keep my right hand free.

I’m a store cashier who was once told “Put everything in one bag, and don’t make it too heavy.” I had a hard time not replying “Okay, I’ll break the laws of physics just for you.”

Just look at who started it and the answer will become clear, young grasshopper.

One of the local grocery stores I shop at actually give a 5 cent per bag discount if you bring your own bags.

Make sure it’s pre-popped corn. Those un-popped kernels are friggin heavy.

I like you, cg16. I’m picturing you as a generally happy puppy-type person with questions about why and little gripes that don’t really bother you that much.

Don’t let the bastards get you down, stick around please!

When I see people walking home from the store with hands full of little plastic bags, whether two or eight or whatever, I know I’m looking at idiots. Stupid is as stupid does. Since you’re so entirely incapable, get your shit delivered. Then you’ll have something else to do with those ass bags.
.

You could always put the smaller bag over your head and take a deep breath.

As long you’re not living in Flint, MI you probably don’t need to buy water.

I recommend buying only dehydrated and freeze-dried foods.

Many grocery stores around here also sell helium balloons. If yours does also, you might consider buying a few and tying them to the handles of your shopping bags to lighten the load.

I saw a show once, it was a wildlife documentary I think, where one of the animals (A dog of some kind?) purchased a kind of device that created a hole in one place that was connected to a hole in another place.

You should see if you can buy one of these… then you can just drop your heavy groceries down the hole, and they will end up directly in your apartment.

Didn’t you read what he wrote? They are small ass bags, not small head bags! Geez. Some people…

My cat has a very small head. You can’t tell because of the fur, but it’s like a fuzzy pin in there.

How about asking some of your friends that do have a car if you could go shopping with them and stock up on the heavy items . You’re only have to carry home your veggies etc . Or have bottled water delivered to your home. Most people bring their recyclable shopping bag with them , you can buy them at the grocery store and most stores .

Soo… is the OP talking about the regular old handled plastic shopping bags that have been in common use for more than three decades, or something else entirely?

I’m more than a little bit baffled, as there haven’t been any real changes in plastic bag format where I’ve lived since the late 1980s/early 1990s.
