You fail to understand the difference between trying to be a bad ass and being sincerely, Honest to God FED UP with the way things are going.
I’m looking forward to seeing the system fall apart and the country starting all over again. The last time we made many strides forward, with things like the FDIC, Social Security and rural electrification. Hopefully this time we’ll learn from a few more mistakes we made. If not, then so much for the U.S. Oh well.
FYI before you start saying it’s silly to look forward to a collapse… we’ve had more than one Depression before this. It has happened before. It’s highly unlikely we’ll prevent it from happening again at the rate we’re going.
Yeah whatever. You guys said that when you laid waste to the Democrats in 2004. I told Democrats back then not to fret. I’m giving the same advice now.
2 years later in 2006 your asses got handed to you. 2 years after that you had the honor of being the first Republican generation to allow a MUSLIM TERRORIST KENYAN ANTI-COLONIAL JEREMIAH WRIGHT WORSHIPPING* NON US CITIZEN ANGRY BLACK MAN hahahahahah!!! to break your 40+ unbroken combo of upstanding white blue blood true American Gawd-Fearing** Patriot Presidents.
So um, yeah, I can understand why you’re pissed.
Wait. He’s a Muslim but his pastor is a Christian? Ah well, whatever story suits you on a given day. Making up one’s mind is obviously overrated, eh?
** Lord please do not strike me down for whatever they worship is not GOD and I refuse to spell what they worship by that name.
Ok so how does someone find out why their post isn’t being responded to?
Someone else on here said “how about we ALL put you on ignore”. Violation of “ignore club”? Not violation? Anyhoot, what do I care if someone puts me on ignore. I’m not that desperate.
That’s what she said. But that restraining order runs out in about a year…
Look, frere Jacques, its totally cool to have another lefty on the Boards, pull up a chair, join the fun. But we already got the over-amped vitriol edge covered. And we all pretty much say very similar things, since we are reality-addicted. You’re not really likely to stand out unless you go to extremes, and that just lends aid and comfort to the tighty-righty.
Dial it down, and your points will still be well-taken, you just won’t hear about it much. Can’t count the number of times I’ve read some righty screed and spent some time on a cogent and succinct response, only to post it and find somebody else has written much the same thing, and very nearly as well phrased. Pretty close. Can’t expect too much.
Thing is, we are winning. With glacial speed, agonizingly slow, sure. But I’ve held roughly the same set of views for better than forty years now. Views that used to be radical edge. But now I could very nearly register as a mainstream Democrat, a position my younger self would have regarded as a betrayal and a cop-out.
Let the other guys call out the attack dogs, release the hounds. We’ll feed them some stoney brownies, and pretty soon they’ll be laying by the fireplace licking their balls. The dogs, I mean.
Since you’re being so civil, I’ll make this promise. I will TRY my best to dial it down, even if I falter now and then.
I do hold some very radical opinions which will attract some very radical responses. I won’t censor my point of view but I’ll try to not light someone up even though it seems they have a right to do it to me but I can’t do it back. (Which is where I guarantee I’ll falter because in all my life I have never ever ever taken verbal abuse… even got in trouble in school about that. It ain’t about being a badass; it’s about not letting people start shit with you.)
I for one will be deeply relieved when Obamacare gets repealed – the idea of living in a world where insurance companies can’t deny or pull people’s coverage for pre-existing conditions makes me sick. It keeps me up at night. Not to mention that whole climate change thing – who cares about the future of the planet, so long as some fat ass tax attorney doesn’t have to feel in any way inconvienced now?
Yeah. Well, in real life I have to admit I have a special place in my heart for Europeans. The French weren’t afraid to kidnap executives and the Greeks are not afraid to seriously riot.
Liberals over there are far from being afraid to mix it up. And judging by the fact that they have universal health care and their retirement age is only THREATENING to go to age 62, they seem to be doing a better job of holding the line than we are.
Who says I think, at that point, that they’re worth making any points to? I’m up to 17 posts a day trying to raise some snot nosed brats. You’re not winning by logical arguments, so you’re looking to compensate by wasting a happily retired man’s time.
Granted, I came here and volunteered to deal with that mess. So I’m taking responsibility by using the proper tools to fix the problem.
