Big Bad Voodoo Lou ?
I think your font is too subtle; no wonder he hasn’t replied yet.
Yeah. I used to think that was a good thing.

Why bash Bush. For one thing he makes it so damn easy. Incompetence and hypocrisy are fertile ground.
I’ve always found plenty to do in Canada whenever I’ve visited, but I can only speak for myself. For the OP:
I was going to suggest that we start calling Bush ‘Fred’.
Unless he’s really the titular character, in which case I think he needs to use his Super Vision.
Fred: I wish I had Super Vision!
Super Chicken: I give you the best I can, Fred!
‘Fred, if I had any supervision we wouldn’t be in this predicament!’
I had created an idea about you in my head based on two other threads of yours that I read recently:
This one:
And this one:
Combined, they led me to an ugly idea about you that I posted while I was angry about your present OP. It was a low blow, and for that, I do sincerely apologize.
However, I was saddened, shocked, and sickened by your sentiments in the present OP, so in the spirit of the Pit, I let the venom fly and attacked the speaker rather than the message. I should be better than that. To be honest, all three threads leave me with a weird, negative impression of you. I think I’ll avoid your threads in the future and also avoid shooting my mouth off in the future.
Think of me however you want – I’m a young American liberal who disapproves of our current government – or don’t think about me at all, I don’t care. I was wrong to post what I did, even in the Pit, but I think your OP represented the horribly wrong-headed and ignorant thinking that has hurt our country so much today, and it made me angry enough to lash out. I should not have said what I said about you, even based on two other threads you started that gave me that idea. We don’t like each other – I guess we can agree on that one thing.
I never asked for an apology. Didn’t expect it would be worth anything. I was right. It didn’t help. you were sorry all right, because you came across like an idiot expousing false information. With venom. All I wanted was the retraction and part of my motivation in replying is to ensure the maximum number of members who read your post will read your retraction,
Fair enough.
I’d say that you might respect others for having a different opinion,. no matter how ridiculous you might feel about it. You don’t have to agree and you can say so. But if you are willing to tear down a fellow human being by asserting ugly “facts” that you have no desire to actually confirm, you are no different in my eyes than as a racist. You just pulled off something way more reprehensible than whatever Don Imus pulled. And he didn’t do what he did with a hateful heart.
I would never describe myself as liberal or conservative. Nothing a liberal or coservative says on this board would want me to demonize someone. I respect people’s opinions and if I have a problem with your opinion on an issue, then I’d hope I could express it with respect. None of what I’ve ever offered for opinions here on the SDMB is sacrosanct to me. All my political posts have been trying to understand the depth of particularly the conventional liberal attitude. I’m trying to understand it.
Trust me, I totally understand your dissapointment with Bush. I’m not without my own dissapointment in that regard.
Trust me. the whole issue since I challenged you is way bigger than you. Save for a few posts, no one has taken you to task for an obvious vicious attack on a fellow poster. You are okay. As far as I’m concerned you committed a bannable offence with the original post by submitting false information and you also commited a further offence by telling me that I was on your ignore list (I realize that you didn’t EXACTLY put it that way), but you got away with it. Without even a warning.
Some of us are subject to moderation justice and some of us aren’t. Obviously my contribution here is not wanted by the “authorities”.
Take some satisfaction that you broke the camel’s back. To me you’re a young hot shot who’ll fit in right here on this message board. Obviously my opinion, as a sick old bastard that I am is not wanted around here.
I’m taking the lead from ** JohnCoraddo**.I’m not conservative like I understand him and Scylla to be, but I do not understand or like intolerrance, and I have given up making excuses for it.
Well, that sucks.
Not really. No more so than some other dipshit leaving the board for the promise of a few dollars in bribe money two years hence. People stop participating on the Dope pretty often. Seems to me that both deferred payment and outrage over perceived board biases are valid personal reasons for leaving, neither of which in any way reflects on the actual value of the message board to others.
On the “few” minutes of Bush’ inactivity on 9/11 that seem so irrelevant to you oh-so-sensible liberals (and Liberals
) out there:
It’s a reasonable conclusion from polling conducted beginning a few weeks after the 2004 election that the issue which got our current President "re"elected was the perceived strength of his leadership in the War on Terra. The restraint and circumspection given Mr. Bush by the press and the politically active public -and by his opponent- allowed that false perception to stand vitually unchallenged. Had John Kerry and a few more of you level-headed liberals joined obnoxious kooks like Michael Moore and hammered away at that perception, and had Kerry pushed back starting with the first mewlings from the Swift Boat liars, together we might have revealed some of the mirrored smoke keeping that illusion of strength alive among our friends who wanted so much for it to be true.
We all know how Bush reacts when the going gets tough, don’t we? Even that first 2004 debate showcased what a petulant little whiner Bush is; and Kerry wore kid gloves to that one (and a leash and muzzle to the other two debates). Had real opposition been unleashed -and this seems to be borne out by those candidates who did well in the 2006 elections- the Pres’ inadequacies quite probably would’ve been revealed to enough voters to swing the election.
I know hindsight is supposed to be 20/20, but some of us whack job liberals were saying at the time that not only had Bush never actually demonstrated any of that vaunted decisiveness by actually dealing effectively with a developing situation, in every one of the situations where quick, decisive executive action was called for, he’d either skedaddled, played to his base or just left it to others to deal with. -I doubt I was the only one unsurprised by his response to Katrina, was I? But it was near to impossible to find a respected liberal voice, on this board or off it, who seemed willing to point out the personal details that make this deeply flawed individual so unsuitable for the job of PotUS.
To sum up… Even though it makes you moderates (and even this former moderate) feel dirty and mean, I advocate no sympathy for the devil, only scorn and abuse. And very little tolerance for enablers of any stripe, but particularly of the horrified-but-sensible kind.
The self appointed martyr is the person I respect least in politics. I can’t fricking stand them. Take your fucking ball and go home.
I’d be supportive of a “don’t let the door hit you in the ass” rule, like some other boards, so that when you post that the boards are oh so cruel and you’ll never post again, you actually never do. We could call it the “Mr. Moto rule,” since he did it so fantastically well with the “hardened partisan position” post of his.
I didn’t say it was invalid. I said it sucked. And as one of the “others”, I’d like to say that for myself, the loss of The Flying Dutchman and John Corrado is in a whole different league from the loss of a bombastic hypocrite who made atheism seem like the dumbest idea since lightning rod hats.
Whoa! I’ve never been called “moderate” before!
Naw, it’s more fun to let 'em stick around so we can mock them for their unwonted egotism.

Good posting about “Dubya” there.
Then again, I’m just another easily convinced weak-willed liberal who has been hopelessly led down the path chosen for me by the tendentious media.
But seriously folks, as I’ve asked many times, what the Hell did Dubya ever do or say to make him seem to be the Man In Charge, the Leader in the War On Terror[sup]©[/sup], the Decider In Chief[sup]®[/sup], etc?
Wait, he’s leaving?
Then where will we get gems like this in the future?
I give it less than 3 months.

Hey, if it comes down to it, we can simply use an AI program to spew topical bits of conservative vomit like that. Presuming, of course, that Shodan leaves as well.
That presumes that Shodan is not already a vomit-spewing Republibot.
