Just thought I’d share that. I didn’t have enough pop in my mouth to float them down, and now it feels like they’re stuck in there. Only they can’t be, can they?
I get that feeling sometimes. I always follow my pills with a little piece of bread to “make sure they go down”. Which really irritates DeHusband when he wants toast for breakfast and the last pieces of bread are missing corners.
If they were stuck, it would be worse. Chances are they just irritated or scratched your throat and that’s what you’re feeling. Even if they are stuck, they’ll eventually dissolve. Or you’ll throw up. Either that, or they’ll start releasing caustic materials that will etch a hole into your esophagus, in which case your stomach acids will leak through into your lungs and you’ll die a slow and painful death over the next couple of hours, which nothing on earth can prevent. Nice knowin’ ya.
Nah, they just irritated your throat a bit, especially if they were pills without any kind of smooth coating.
I had a couple of Excedrin do the nasty to my throat a few years ago, leaving me with that damn, I’m sure they went down, but… feeling. Many subsequent glasses of water and some food had no effect. I finally stopped in at a local emergency care place where the doctor assured me that all was well and that the pills had irritated my throat and the feeling would go away in a day or so.
And it did.
They’re capsules, with a smooth coating, but yeah, they only irritated my throat. And only for a few minutes. Thank you for your concern, though!
