Ha! Did I nap quickly enough for you? Anyway, let’s play a game of copy and paste from this thread. Hopefully this will have answered your questions. All of the following quotes are mine.

Part of me is tempted to get an off campus apartment, then the other part remembers I live in SHALLOW FUCKING ALTO where I’d have to pay $1,000/month to get a farkin’ studio. Bay Area livin’, especially the freakin’ peninsula, ain’t cheap. It’s no wonder why 95% of the undergrads here live on campus. Serious, 95% because we really don’t have much choice BUT to face the pure eeeeeeevil that is the housing lottery.

I live in Palo Alto. I don’t know if you know much about this little forest that was (not completely) torn down to build a town, but a studio will seriously run ya $1,000+/month. If I am to afford to live anywhere near campus, I’d be coughing up an assload of money and working all the time. I’m a full time student, I’m on financial aid, I can’t afford to live off campus. In fact, nobody can. Essentially all Stanford undergraduates live on campus. Somewhere around 95%. Of those other 5, most are abroad. See how this works?

I was praying for my own room. I thought I was going to get one too, since the dorm I got assigned to has plenty of them. SOME people get them. Other people get fucked up the ass with no lube. Guess which group I belong to.

There’s apparently some confusion. Some of you have conjured up the idea that I’m a miserable old bat who’s depressed and is thrown into a fury over the mere sight of another human being. Not exactly. No, I’m not a “people person.” Yes, I’d rather live alone than with other people, friends included. Love 'em to death, but don’t wanna live with them. Yes, I’m probably more disturbed by the idea of this triple business than most people. Yes, I absolutely NEED privacy or else I’ll flip. Now I’m really on the verge of flipping because this will be my 3rd year like this. So in sum, I’m not a miserable person I’m just pissed the hell off at this lame assignment for a few reasons. One, this crappy ass living situation with no real alternative. Two, my particular desire for privacy. Most people want it, but I do more so than anyone I know. I REALLY cannot stand sharing my space. It pisses me off to the point where I’m so overtaken by anger that I can scarcely formulate a coherent post. So now I’m stuck, when some people who probably wouldn’t even mind this dilemma anywhere near as much as I do are going to be lounging in suites next year.

Now mind you these are just things I have said. Some other people have gone addressed these issues too, including Zenster, Melandry and a few others. I could go on like this forever, but stopping half way through the 2nd page I’d say is plenty. I shouldn’t have had to do this in the first place. You should have been able to read the freakin’ thread yourself. Happy?

I think you think that your main problem in life is your shitty housing situation that others also have to deal with but I think the bigger problem in your life is that you claim to know “too many people” but can only like three of them and can’t see the benefit of being a happier person? If you already know these people, why is it so bad to actually like them?

There are roughly 3 people outside of family who I actually like. I’m not saying I have 3 good friends but think a lot of other people are swell. I’m saying I don’t like ANYONE besides 3 people.
