Never thought I would post on Fashion, but two of my favorite old actresses.
Mary Tyler Moore was famed for Capri pants on the Dick Van Dyke show.
Audrey, I think was most closely associated with the “Little Black Dress”.
I think I have that right. Funny Face was a fun movie and showed off Audrey’s beauty to the max. Astair seem to have fun doing the movie.
Apparently someone did some (rather impressive) Photoshop cleanup. Or at least I wouldn’t expect a quality color photo of her while still young that wasn’t blurred or such.
The GAP does not deserve to be linked with Audrey Hepburn. The Mad-Av hotshot whose idea that was should be dropped from a helicopter in the Rockies with no skis, just a Speedo. I hope The GAP paid dearly for those few seconds of film. I’m. rather. pisto.
Hm. I actually like the Audrey Hepburn ad, I think she’s cute as a button and the AC/DC pairup was clever. I also like the updated *Singin’ In The Rain * spot.
I was attending a lecture by him on “Images of God in Popular Culture”, and he
noted the casting of Audrey as God as the only reason to see the Richard Dreyfuss remake of “Always”.
For the record, I like the commercial. The wrongness of AC/DC & Miss Hepburn combined is wondrous!
I agree! I had planned to start a thread making this very point today, having seen the commerical for the first time last night. I laughed out loud with delight when I saw it.
That said, I think it’s ridiculous to introduce “skinny” pants when 3/4 of even the teenage population is bulging at the seams.
I hate the commercials, I hate the pants, and I’m starting to really, really hate the Gap.
I spilled something on myself today, and ran over to the Gap to buy some emergency pants. It was a nightmare. The clothes are bad enough, but for the love of god, no one should ever walk into a building and be confronted with a larger than life picture of Pete Wentz screaming. It’s inhumane.
