I Hate The Homeless

How do you know it was a homeless person who did it? Did you see him? Honest question. It could have been some very drunk moron who lost it staggering home from a bar. Could have been somoene’s dog. Why automatically blame it on a homeless person?

They’re frustrated because there aren’t enough of them to hijack, let alone win, an election.

The BART worker said so, said that they ran away after being confronted but before the police could arrive.

Man, some of you are acting like real shits. I have relatives who fell upon hard times, mentally or financially, and became homeless for short whiles, and because they were lucky enough to come from middle-class backgrounds, they had a support system and were able to stay off the street for the most part. People who come from a poorer background with no wealthy people in their lives would have a much more difficult time.

It’s a cliche, but you really never know what a person’s deal is unless you a) are them or b) know them intimately. Making assumptions about strangers is not constructive. You don’t know anything about them.

All people fuck up and tumble, but the padding on our safety nets vary obscenely.

I hope that was 100% satire; otherwise it’s fucking unacceptable.

I’m not homeless, and I’m gainfully employed, but there are times when I’m in public places (using public transit) where I can’t find any restroom without going into a restaurant–and they say, “Only paying customers can use our restroom.” What if I don’t want to eat in that restaurant? Too bad. Not that I’d use the doorway of some business, but waiting until I get home puts me in a pretty sour mood.

Have you ever been to a state or city park in California? The chances are that if you do, the restrooms will be closed. There’s no money (or so they say). There isn’t money to give involuntary homeless even the most basic shelter (they say). Yes, many homeless prefer to remain homeless, and often those are the people who do disgusting things in public, but I think at least half, and probably more, of the homeless are not willingly so, and would prefer to work, and don’t foul up public places. If I have trouble finding a restroom in public, they do too.

To categorically hate the homeless is to paint too broad a brush.

I’m wondering which group of homeless we’re talking about, bus-shitting-wise. Do you think they’re of sound mind and body, but down on their luck? Or do you think they’re FUCKING NUTS?

I’m betting they’re the latter. And if that’s the case, your being grossed out and disgusted is appropriate, but lay off the crazy people…on account of they’re FUCKING NUTS!

Off-topic I guess, but, Kalhoun: how do you have over 23,000 posts and I’ve never seen your name before? Did you have a name change?

very well said. I can’t believe the scorn I’m reading in this thread. These people are human beings; whatever their problems, if we do nothing to help, surely we lose some humanity too…

Yes, that was satire. Elsewhere in this thread, I talk about how well I can relate to the homeless right now, myself.

You come across as a cold hearted selfish prick. Sorry, that is why people can not be nice to you.
There will be a lot more homeless. Foreclosures are going up and more people in the streets. It gives you a lot more people to look down on. You can be as nasty to them as you want.
Some of us are weak. We feel for those who are down. We know that most people live paycheck to paycheck and are an illness away from economic troubles. Some know that it can happen to almost anyone . We know people who have had the world come down on them. Unemployment is climbing fast. You can enjoy the suffering of so many more. It will be a boom time for you.

You were a racist long before.

Post reported for content.

You dredged up a 5 year old thread for that??

Nice first post, by the way

But he was “near-tackled.” Within the past week!

Oh boy, a Nazi wants to shock us by talking like a Nazi. Never seen that before.

You know who else was nearly-tackled by a homeless person, don’t you?

Oooh. Zombie homeless. They are the worstest!

Jesus?

You want to erect standing stones with stick-like letters on them in public parks?

Too bad we had to hear from you in the first place.
