Sand. I collect sand from every beach I go to. They’re all in identical little jars with the origin of each written neatly on the side. Want to remember Santorini? Here. Need a Bells Beach fix? Here. Nice.
Rocks. You’re probably starting to see a trend. My rock collection has become so huge I’ve moved a large portion out to the cactus garden. Interesting specimens from around the world now accent the succulents. Damn their appropriateness, I’ll stick a dog’s tooth calcite or a cone-in-cone right next to a San Pedro just as fast as the next guy and still sleep nights. Can still remember where every one of them came from too. Mmmmm, rocks.
Cactus. Just kidding. Well, mebbe just a little.
Coins. Is there anything cooler? Most are old US but I did buy this beautiful old worn Greek or Roman piece from a shepherd at an ancient collisieum. It has an oared ship on one side and some X’s on the other and I’m pretty sure Marc Anthony paid a hooker with it once so I’ll probably keep it.
Stamps. Right there next to coins.
Corks. Whenever we finish a bottle I save 'em and then hot glue 'em onto a grapevine wreath. They make wonderful gifts for all your alcoholic friends.
**Barrettes. ** Well, not me exactly. On another site this guy claimed to have been collecting barrettes from the beach near his house. I laughed at his bizarre sense of humor until seeing the actual page full of three or four hundred of them he’d posted. I’m again comfortable in my normalcy.
What’s bulging your attic?
