I have a nice shiny gift membership up for grabs

Well I have 6 on my list so far. Some bumpage will not hurt though. And c’mon guys - make with the bunny pics. Don’t make me start using excessive apostrophes!!!

Yeah, what’s the deal with the lack of bunny pix? These memberships are shiny, I tell ya, shiny!

Hurumph I will have to lead by example I suppose Impulse bunny | It is quite amazing how much of her face she… | Flickr

Here’s some.

I like shiny.
I have no bunny pictures but I do have two stories:

  1. When I worked in a longterm pediatric ICU (for kids with illnesses too complicated for the regular floors)

We had a sweet little boy who came to the main ICU at 2 days old and stayed for over a year.
He didn’t have family come to visit, so we did what we could for him. One of the nurses got him a mobile of bunnies, but they hung upright.

We figured when he got to kindergarten and the teacher told him to draw a bunny, he’d draw a bunny butt, since that’s all he could see of the bunnies.

  1. When I was a kid I had a cat, a dog, a duck, a chicken and a bunny as pets. They would follow me around, single file.
We had a vegatable garden where the bunny would munch the tops of the carrots and radishes.

My grandfather would yell at the bunny and he’d run. The cat decided to help keep the bunny out of the garden. She’d creep up on the bunny to pounce, but the bunny would always see her coming and kick her. She’d go rolling away, only to start the game again. It WAS a game, since the slept together at night.

Not only did she not keep the bunny from eating the carrot tops, the two rolling around in the garden did more damage than just the nibbling bunny.
Grandpa stopped yelling at the bunny because the two were so comical together.

I will express interest in a free membership.

I have never been a real member, and i’d kind of like to see what it is like on the other side. Perhaps seeing “Member” under my name will make me type with more purpose. I don’t know. But I am willing to see what will happen to me if I am selected for this honor.

In any predictable order?

Bunny pic, interesting info, AND a tie-in to a member here. I don’t know what more you could ask, madrabbitwoman!

This is a (member tie-in) Chimera bunny:

I first became aware of chimera beasties with Venus, the chimera cat:

She has a Facebook page here:

https://www.facebook.com/VenusTheAmazingChimeraCat

From wikipedia:

I read in a few places that chimeras can be considered their own fraternal twins!

Thanks for that - so cool!

No. Usually the cat or dog would lead, occasionally the chicken would be out front, but only when my uncle was in the yard. They were mortal ememies, so the chicken would stay close and attack him if he got too close.

I didn’t have much imagination when it came to names. The pets were: Rags, Momma Cat, Bunny, Chick Chick and Quack. I think you can sort out whose name was which.

Names have been drawn and those folks will be notified shortly. I you are not of the chosen few fear not - your names auomatically go into next months draw. Cheers all.

Chimera parakeet/budgie:

Ok guys - as per here: gift memberships are not working - About This Message Board - Straight Dope Message Board
gift memberships have been broken by the latest upgrade. However Jerry is going to fix the ones offered from here in the short term. At present there are 3 (the 3rd was generously offered by someone who wishes to remain anonymous) hopefully they will go through shortly

So far we have two bright and shiny new members! Congratulations folks. I membership has yet to go through. If they have the broken gift membership situation fixed by next month there will be anther up for grabs. Everyone who has expressed interest so far ans was not successful is in the running.

Thank you so much to a person who wishes to remain anonymous! I promise to use it well and thoughtfully.

Aaaand now, thanks to Jerry and TubaDiva, all is well with the winners. Hurrah! And for all the new members, the squid will be along shortly. You know what to do…
