Why am I suddenly addicted to ginger ale? For some strange reason as I was walking in to work this morning I had a thought that a ginger ale would taste good with my Egg McMuffin so I bought a can. I drank the whole can. I have since bought two more and drank those as well.
I never, ever drink pop other than as a mixer. I usually drink water all day. If I get a hankering for a Coke I hardly finish half of the can. It just sits at my desk and gets warm.
But this ginger ale tastes so good. I think I might even stop and get some to take home or maybe I shouldn’t, I dunno.
I have started drinking about 6 cans a day as well. Maybe we should form some type of group.
Have you ever tried ginger beer? That stuff is excellent but mildly hard to find in some parts. Big supermarkets and specialty food stores like Whole Foods carry it though.
This is strange. Just a little while ago, I had a ginger ale craving. Went to the local convenience store and they didn’t have any. So I went all the way to the supermarket and got a 2 litre. I did eventually mix some with tequila, but I drank a lot of it straight up. I just had to have it on a Sunday afternoon.
I get this way occasionally too, only it isn’t just with ginger ale. It happens with ginger ale, orange juice, club soda, etc. I feel like I need some right now and then it is SO GOOD that I just have to drink as much of it as my system will hold for a few days until I am sated. I don’t know why it happens but it does.
I’m also into ginger ale these days. It started last year, but I love it. No caffeine, unlike soda. But it tastes great. It looks nice. It’s good when you’re sick, but I don’t usually associate it with sickness.
Earlier in the summer I got a craving for ginger ale too. Was at the store with a friend getting stuff to make dinner and got a 2 liter - cheap, easy.
Drank damn near the whole thing in one night - straight up.
Now I really want one. Damn. It’s not easy to find really - a lot of gas stations/convenience stores don’t carry it, least not around here. Gotta go to a grocery store, which is a pain. I was in Colorado Springs and was pleasantly surprised to see Canada Dry in the soda case. That was my last fix, way back in June.
Funny you should mention that - me too! As soon as I read the thread title, I thought, “I wonder if she’s pregnant?” (That said, I hope the OP is actually female!)
For some reason, I like to drink ginger ale on airplanes. I don’t know why, but when they start pushing the cart around, I think, “why, yes, a ginger ale would be lovely.” About the only other time I drink them is when I want a whiskey but can’t have one. I think it’s because the color is about the same as a bourbon-and-Seven-Up, so it appeases me.
I do the same thing. For awhile it’s Seagram’s Ginger Ale. Maybe for a week. Then it’s Hawaaian Punch. That’ll go for a week or so. Then Dr. Pepper. Then Tropicana Orchard Style Lemonade. Or grape juice. For awhile it was V8 - but that didn’t work out real well digestively speaking so that didn’t extend as long as the others.
I do not think that you are posting this as a problem, but if you are, and you want to lose the addiction, here is a sure-fire way:
Get some dark rum (black) and mix with ginger ale. This is a mighty fine drink and tastes good, goes down real easy. Now, when you finish the first, have another and another and keep going until you sick up. That should cure this mysterious addiction to ginger ale…at least for a while.
Of course, you could just ride it out and enjoy the ginger-ry taste.
